Cool video of a Rattle

Not that cool actually.

2700 miles, Sound came after DP. Fresh Gaskets.

If I leave it in Efficient mode the rattle always there, when going in S+ it goes away until I rev it, or as Im pulling up to a stop you hear the waste gates rattle shut.

So damn embarassing!

I know how to use a forum.
Just wanted to post the video to see what others thought about how loud my sound actually is.

I share your pain, I am completely straight piped and the noise is very loud. Its called Wastegate rattle and perfectly normal for our cars. When you remove all the restrictions you are also removing the sound deadening they provide.

Yes we have talked about this.
This is just merely a show and tell.

Lots of people asking about Dp's, well you have a very high chance of your Beautiful M5 sounding like this.

Which sucks right... its embarrassing, just like squeaking brakes.

I wonder if wrapping the downpipes in heat wrap makes a difference.

You can put competition Software on your Car. There is no Rattle any more Cause dme/wastegate Signals are different. Only New turbos will have the same rattle as before.

Does this rattle happen even if no DP are installed, and only a full exhaust like an Akra?

It started for me when I went catless.
Full mesitershaft system and no noise at all.

Removing the cats is the devil on this car.

Well if you havent seen a wastegate Rattle in actual video here it is on Alpina B7
No tune will solve Wastegate rattle, once you go from stock dp to Catless you are pretty much rattling the whole time from then on.

Yup! For a 100k car i would imagine they make tighter fitting so that it doesnt rattle anymore. Lol

Can it be shimmed to tighten things up?

There is a guy who made a solution for this, I've already contacted him.

He just hasn't done it for our car.

Here it is.

Hopefully someone will take their resources and try to do a solution.
I can see it being very profitable for a business thats in this "type" of business.

I've written Turbo Lab also as I can hear rattle at idle sometimes. He's looking into rebuild kits, but I'm not sure if this is something I should look into before or after looking into Pure Turbos to see if they have a solution for this as well. In the meantime I wonder if adjusting the preload on the wastegates will help with rattle while also adding a hair more of lost power from a wastegate that isn't closing properly. YouTube videos on wategate preloading, seems pretty simple.
