So what does it sound like when a clutch pack is starting to wear or go bad?
I think there had been a couple of people that have needed to have a clutch pack replaced? Was there any accompanying noise prior to the replacement?
I've got an 'odd' sound that is most repeatable in efficient and the slowest shift setting. I hear it most often from 3-4 or 4-3 shifts and it sounds a little light sandpaper rubbing against wood. It is short lived (less than a second) and if it was a traditional clutch (and not a DCT) I would swear it was a sound like a worn clutch. Any experience or constructive feedback out there? I need to setup an appointment anyway, so just want to have an idea of what I am getting into prior to that appointment. Thanks in advance. |

Wow, you have almost as much as me. I'm over 43k. I haven't had any of the symptoms you described. If I were you, I'd just go complain to the SA at the dealership that your DCT is making weird sounds and is not acting right and suggest that they replace the entire unit. Especially if you plan on keeping for a long time.

Ah... it all makes sense now!
I now know why you want me to take it the dealer for a full replacement: you don't want me to have a chance to catch up with you on the mileage while yours is out of commission with your very unfortunate incident. If mine is in the shop for a full DCT replacement, there is no hope of me catching up with you on the mileage. j/k of course. Yes, that is certainly my fall back plan "play dumb" with the SA and mechanic.... "what is that sound?" "should it do that?" "I don't remember it doing that before, but now it seems to be getting worse..." Unfortunately, that usually leads to "oh yeah, they all do that" kind of responses. At this point, I do plan to keep mine for a good while pending no surprises or unfortunate incidents. |

Anyone knows the price of a new DCT??? my transmission sometimes engages pretty hard, as if its smg especially when you are in first at slow speed and then get back on the gas. I do believe this is however normal.
Wondering how much the DCT costs just in case this ever ends up being a problem.. |

Reviving thread to ask a question about my DCT:
When in 1st gear and reverse I take foot off of brake, but the car doesn't move until I give it a little gas. In reverse there is a bit of chatter (very little) and in 1st gear the clutch slips and doesn't grab fully until I reach around 2k rpm. Should this be a concern or is it normal as my SA has stated? |

That is exactly how my DCT behaves with 19k miles. It is very accurate with shifts when driven harder though. I posted a question of any difference in US vs Euro DCT settings, but maybe not, since there's no replies. |

Curious as to what throttle settings and mode you are in. If I have efficient throttle setting or D1/S1. I get what you describe. I keep my throttle setting at Sport. And S2. At that setting I get very little slip and much crisper/immediate throttle/clutch response. I basically mimic my 6 speed driving style and it works well with my DCT.

I did not take it in as I don't think much of it. The dct lag usually happens when I'm driving around very slowly, in 1st shifting to 2nd.
I'm usually driving around in sport+ S3 |

Look into having the software on your car updated. Completely solved my around town jerky DCT issue.

I ended up having the clutch adaptation done. That solved MY original issues on this thread and majority of my low speed jerkiness. Try that as well as it is a very inexpensive fix that the dealer can try for you.

If your clutches are going you will get a transmission excessive heat warning, and the car will cut power.
