M5 in the rain

How is the m5 in medium to heavy rain? I'm not trying to break 0-60 records in the rain but if you drive conservatively is it good or do you still need to be super conservative due to the tires.

It's excellent. It feels like one of the fastest cars on the road in heavy rain. Tons of grip from the fat Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I've driven my 2013 M5 many times in torrential rains in Miami.

But you do have to manage the throttle. A throttle happy driver will crash in the rain.

^ This
And as long as you keep DSC ON (no even MDM) and don't push the car hard, you are fine!

I don't like it in rain or maybe not as much I should say - only time when I wish for AWD M5 but otherwise I never do -

I can tell you one thing: Be careful with those big intakes when it comes to flash flood zones. Drive real slow or better yet, pull over and wait until things have settled. Had to learn the hard way myself ;-(

Man I drove about 3 hours out of these about 2 hours of very very very heavy rain with puddles allover the highway and speeds as low as 10 mph because of no visibility with fastest windshield wipers speed !! And up to 70 mph when possible and I was scared to death reading your previous experience but everything went just fine and M5 performed like it should (Champ) even with 3/32 rear Michelin SSS!! super "sticky" sports.

Need to go easy on the turns, more discipline with the right foot and give the car's electronics due respect and e'thing stays civil. Any bravado on public roads is asking for trouble even on dry pavements! DSC on, D1, comfort/non-sport setting e'thing and good situational awareness and the beast is safer than most e'thing on the wet freeway!!

I could not agree more. I am hoping my new M5 is a bit higher (I know most of us want our car lower) than my 2012 650i, but 3 months after getting the launch car from my dealership, I had a $36k bill from having, as my service advisor said it, the most expensive twin Turbo shop vac in town. Luckily it only cost my $1k, but I bent two rods and ruined the brand new LED lights.

BE CAREFUL IN HEAVY RAIN AND NOT SO DEEP WATER
