Pros for 2013
More preferred exterior color choice
More preferred interior color choice
1 owner
Dealing with BMW dealer I have had good experience with

Pros for 2014
1 year newer
7k less miles
LED headlights
Possibly easier for resale and holds value better in the distant future being the 2nd year model
Def 14. 7k less miles,a year newer and led lights make a huge difference in looks. All that for an extra 5k, would be a no brainer for me.

I would go with the 14 (LCI) personally.

I owned a 13' M5 before buying the 15' M5 I presently own and there's been a substantial difference in terms of problems with each vehicle. Both vehicles were purchased new but the 13' model had many issues with frequent trips to the dealership.

With that said, this is my personal experience and is a limited sample but there are known, documented issues with the 13' M5 that you can read about on this forum.

I picked up a 2013 because it was EXACTLY how I would build one if I had ordered new. At 19k miles and 1 owner, it was a no-brainer for me. I did basic mods like LCI grill, IND package, Springs, etc. and I'm totally happy.

With that said.... the oil guzzling is a ******* PIA!

I'd prob opt for the '14 for the extra 5k if the color combo is something you can live with or even learn to love.

You're correct. Though in this case, they are only a few months apart due to the '13 is a late build with a late in service date.

LCI was a huge deal for me especially with competition package.
LED headlight looks amazing as well.

Definitely 14.

LED Headlights
Grill
Steering wheel

Never buy the 1st year production of a model.

13 wasn't the first year- F10 M5 was out in Germany in 2011.

Always buy the best car you can afford is my advice, theres no reason not to buy the 13 if thats your budget.

I agree. I still like the '13 headlights more than the LCI ones. And I have noticed non BMW owners tend to like the 13 lights more than the LCI.

Headlights I can always swap out later, but honestly they are not bad. The steering wheel I actually prefer the pre-LCI better in person. LCI steering wheel looked better from pics, but it's a bit smaller and the brushed aluminum plastic in the center concaving down I did not care much for. Oh and also added on 6 year 85K from CURRENT bumper to bumper for a great price!
