F10 m5 kickdown not shifting to lowest gear possible
Hey guys just wanted to know if this is normal so I have my car in full power sport+ everything and on d3 so I was doing some testing to see if I used the kickdown it should shift to the lowest gear possible but it only shifts to 3rd between 3-4 rpm but as soon as I do that if i downshift manually it will shift to 2nd isn't the kickdown used in d mode suppose to shift to the lowest gear possible without me having to shift manually any input would be great

It would shift down to the lowest meaningful gear, I reckon.
In this instance it felt that shifting into 2nd was sub optimal for max acceleration.

Yes, that's why it didn't shift to 2nd. Max performance would be had by shifting once to third and staying there rather than shifting to second, then almost immediately again having to shift to third. Max acceleration doesn't happen at the top of the RPM band.
