Engine Oil Consumption 2013 M5

Hey guys. my engine oil light comes on every 1k miles. I know that BMW says that this is somehow normal. However, I was wondering when that light comes on, how many litres/quarts are left in the engine exactly? 6L? 7L? I know the max the s63 engine holds is 8.5L. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

I believe you can check the measurement on the idrive; possibly in vehicle settings. I may me mistaken but I believe it's possible.

FWIW, I had this issue on my 13' M5 and resorted to keeping a couple quarts of oil in the trunk; my 15' M5 has not had any oil consumption issues to date.

Yeah I see that the 13's are the problem...so irritated. I checked and it only says to add a quart, doesn't show the amount remaining. The reason I am asking is that I had it filled to 8.5L which is the max a month ago and now it is on again. So I am trying to gauge how much it is using per month.

I had this problem from Day 1 with my 13' M5; it is what it is. Like I said, I just kept some oil in the trunk and added as needed.

Not sure it's something that can be fixed or something BMW is willing to fix under warranty, but please let me know what they say! I have a '13 that drinks 1 liter every 1k miles.

But, I just take mine to the dealer and they top it off for me for free.

my 13 did the same. I go to my dealer once every 2 weeks to top up, they really know me what I need when I pulled into their service entrance. I just pop the hood and they know their routine. LOL.

So far they have changed the valve stem seals...no resolution...I was sold the car under warranty without being disclosed of the issue...They say that 1L per/ 1000mi is under spec. That is why I am trying to find out how much is left when the light comes on. But I will let you know what they decide to do.
