One of the two cars paid for this advertisement, and seems like it was Nissan. I don't argue GT-R being faster on all those tests, however, characteristics of tests and a vulgar presentation of an obvious outcome show a subjective and biased approach. They didn't do high-speed runs which is one of M5's advantages, let alone testing build quality, a sedan status and passenger capacity as well.

Strangely, they're testing the M5 against the latest 2012 GT-R too. Second most useless video by Autocar after their "Will it Drift?".

By the way, 2:20 shows a nice interior contrast

I still don't see the point in the comparison - the cars are not in the same class. 5 door saloon and 3 door coupe. Why compare them?

I don't get it?? Why are they comparing these two cars? Why not compare the GT-R to a 911 Turbo? I don't expect my M5 to behave like the GT-R. If I did, I would buy the GT-R.
Why don't the try to load 4 grown men and 4 golf bags into the GT-R and see who wins that

To echo the comments above, this is a completely pointless comparison.

If I wanted a car like thet GTR I would have bought a 911 turbo, but I don't because I need somewhere to put the 3 kids, that's why I went for the M5 .....

The drift video was bad but this is a complete joke. Anyone who thinks the M5 competes with the GTR needs their head read.

I thought this was absolutely hilarious. Reminds me of when top gear drove the m3 on the track vs the prius.

I would rather see the comparison between the M5 and the e55 to be honest.

However, the owning a "Nissan" part is silly. That's like saying you wont buy a Ferrari because they're owned by fiat. Come on guys. Wave your wallets elsewhere.

It's a stupid comparison -- similar to comparing apples with oranges. This comparison clearly shows pure advertisement for the GTR which smucks of Autocar getting some financial rewards from GTR, I wonder how much? Just proves that Autocar is not objective and can be bribed.

Pointless comparo but like some, I was curious given I owned an 09 GTR and looking at the new M5, similar price tag and hp numbers. I knew the results were going to be lopsided when it comes to performance but what happened to useability, comfort, daily driving? (ala Car and Driver using that criteria to the M3's all conquering benefit when compared to other cars such as the GTR and 911TT). My GTR rattled my passengers and destroyed my kidneys and became nothing more than a rocketship toy for 10 minute drives. Not the all around supercar high performance grocery getter I was looking for. I'm hoping the M5 would fill that role and was wished they did a more complete comparo driving both on this road and to run errands.

I thought the vid made a point - that the GT-R is an amazing car with a level of performance that can blow away a supersedan like the M5. We all knew it would win, but I admit to being surprised just how emphatically. It's clearly not an M5 in its intent, but frankly I'd love to add one to the garage.

I´ve driven both cars ( mostly GT-R ) and the GT-R is fantastic when it comes to performance, but the rest of the car..............no way.

M5 is a complete performance sedan - the best IMO.
GT-R - brutal performance - nothing more.

Come on guys be fair. If M5 had won 5-0 imagine what the reaction would be, a 5 door saloon can hang with a near supercar. That's what M division use to build before it got lazy

IF M5 would have beaten the GTR then it would be an anomaly in the sense that the nissan guys have not done their job. So yes we would have said how did a 4400lbs 5 door saloon car beat a dedicated sports car like GTR. A car that weighs close to 4400lbs RWD should not be beating a dedicated sports car like GTR with less weight\AWD in 0-100mph like they did and slalom tests..

What a lot us us are saying is why not pit the Nissan with natural competitors like 997 or Zr1.. after all you would not compare Zr1 with the M5 would you?
And when they did pit the GTR against the F10M5, they stopped at 100mph.. WTH.. I remember they did video of F10 M5, E63 PP, Panamera and Jag and they did not stop at 100mph
