How much oil is enough??
Hi All! I just performed an oil change (easy peazy). Added 9 qts of oil went for a drive then performed a measurement on level ground and the mark showed up exactly half way between min and max. So I added a 1/2 qt but it still shows at the half way mark. Has anyone put 10 qts in their M5? I don't want to overfill, but the Idrive measure deal is still not at the max???

oil
Don't overfill.
Check owners manual ( easiest ) M cars tend to take more oil that their non M counterparts. I do in some cases out of being curious will drain the oil and physically measure the amount dropped . This gives me a very good idea what should be in it ( engine ) before filling again. Mind you I have not gotten to that point yet since all of my maintenance are still being done by the dealer. |

I read 8.5 liters. Wound up at a final 8.9 liters (after removing 300ml) Now the oil meter is slightly under max. I think this is where I'll leave things. While going thru this process I noted that there's also 1.5 liters of oil in the oil cooler. Does this drain?
