I have contacted Bmw. They are aware of the dealer. They do not feel they should get involved.
I would ask BMW for a written response from BMW. They need to make a decision as to whether what the dealership did is acceptable or not. There is no middle ground.

This is horrible and the dealership should be reprimanded from BMW NA. I would even write the German customer care.

I told the rep that I wanted to be compensated I suggested a months payment or MSchool. She said she would reach out to the Field Rep/After sales regional manager to see what they would do. BMW USA called the next day and said they spoke with the central territory manager and she did not think it was a big deal and would not offer any assistance and refused to speak with me, that is "something she does not do" is what I was told by BMW usa.
AutoNation called last week after many many tweets, you can follow if you want @robertsalem23. People are following this and retweeting already. I spoke with the regional manager who said he would look into this. Have not heard back.
I just went through a different issue about my i8.....bmw doesn't think it was a big deal. Seems to be standard answer, contemplating to go to the top now and blowing up all the message boards. That may help you too?!

Dude I have told your story to like 15 different groups of people and everyone freaks out. Blow the lid of this and state the dealers name. I think everyone here and more will be able to make them feel it. I move a lot and always search the dealer in my area to see if I get some insight. This is what would everyone would see about that dealership and rightly so.

It's one thing to f up and it's another thing to not take any responsibility.

If they don't value you as a customer, there are other dealerships that will. I say put their name on blast!

since BMW NA is not going to get involved, maybe the power of internet can change their mind, time to blow this up so they wish they took care of this earlier.

AutoNation owns the dealership. OP, you are definitely blessed with patience. This should be plastered all over social media by now. If you want a quick way to make this viral......contact Jalopnik and give them the details of this. This is beyond repulsive behavior by a dealership. The fact that BMW USA has told you it's not a big deal really makes this a big deal........Phil

Another reason why the dealership franchise system needs to go away completely. Let the company's sell and service directly to the consumer. It'll never happen though.

Just saw this, crazy!

Our dealer has a service (free) where they pick up my car at my house (or place of business), leave me a loaner, and take it in for service for me. Then they drop it back off at my house or wherever I want and take the loaner. I literally don't have to get out of my housecoat or step outside to have my car serviced, it's pretty sweet. I never even gave a thought to the possibility of my car being used as a shuttle.

Now I am going to be watching that odometer a lot more closely, see if they tag on 50km or something more than what they should. I'll be very interested to hear what comes of this situation.

Sorry mikeriley, i feel your pain.

BMW dealerships are notorious for treating customers like crap. This is unacceptable, we should all collectively sign a petition and create some buzz online for how bad these crappy dealerships are treating customers. The M5 is my 2nd BMW and I just cant think of 1 positive experience I had with any BMW dealer in the past 3 years.

While I get why the OP does not want to disclose the name of the dealer, it's a bit strange that he still wouldn't want to do it even after the dealership and BMWNA have told him to go away. Makes me think he is not telling the whole story and that there is more to it than what's described here.

Either way, it's unacceptable on dealer's behalf to do this and on BMW's behalf to ignore the issue.

The only autonation dealerships i can find in the north east are in chicago and the surrounding area...so i guess OP is near there? Unless OP drives really far to get service done

Lol that sucks man. Dealers would do something like that. I don't even believe they used it for a customer, it might be the valet guy's gf he wanted to take for a ride.
