When I've owned other non-BMW vehicles, full shop service manuals eventually find their way into the information streams (like posted on forums, etc).

Is this a similar expectation with BMWs and the M5?
Or have these traditionally been closely 'guarded' and not distributed by BMW?

Hey John,
From my experience, they usually dont publish the service guides for these cars. Bentley is able to come out with one roughly 6 years AFTER initial launch. Honestly, the best info I get is usually off of DIYs via the posts on forums such as this one and BIMMERFEST.COM. On a seperate note, I mentioned there was a fairly decent Service Advisor at Century in Huntsville I use. His name is Rick Waugh, he is the only one I'll deal with there. He generally knows M Cars and what is needed and ensures your satisfaction. Give him a try.
