Question Does anybody have a pitcure of M5 LCI underbody?

Reason I am asking
I just found there is about 2 feet metal thing sticking down,,, seems very low and you can only see it if you are about 20 feet away from the rear of the car it looks like exactly in the middle and has what looks like grills to it?!

Any Idea what that is?

Reason I am concerned is I believe I hit a dead animal probably a schunk or something similar that was already dead on the road but I was unable to avoid it as it was raining heavily and it did hit the underbody real hard and I was really upset,,, but no couldn't have done anthing about it,,, but forgot about this till I saw that thing sticking down

Again about 2 feet wife about 3-4 feet away from the rear bumper and sticks down about 4-6 inches and looks to neat to be something broken,,,

please help?
What is is that I don't know hear?
Any pix of underbody to compare will be really helpful

No polls this time ;-) since people complained :-)

Quick follow up:
I believe I was able to find some pix that showed that this thing is pretty normal on most cars!

What is it though?

It's a metal shield. The other metal piece you see with fins is your rear M Differential.

It's a reinforcement plate:

I'd love one myself, or actually a few that detail front to back, as I have not been able to get mine on a lift, and won't for a week or two. I want to see the front section where the oil filter hole is and oil pan...that is if anyone has such pics... Thanks.

It's called the stiffening plate and is an important part of the rear suspension.

It's to bond together the rear subframe and make it stiffer. Less flexing keeps the alignment as it's supposed to be and creates a more predictable handling.

If you see the picture I posted, the rear subframe is like an upside down U-shape. The reinforcement plate bonds together the open end of the U.

Ask and you shall receive.... had my 1200 mile service last week and the service guy was nice enough to let me snap a pic or two on the rack.
