Programming the keys
Hi all
Just got my M5 on Saturday and drove the 500 miles from Scotland home. I'll post some pics once its clean again! Can anyone help with the process of coding the keys. I want two profiles so that my wife and I can have a separate key that will set everything to our personal profiles. I can't seem to figure it out Thanks in advance Mark |

PS) also use the different memory keys for each driver, you will have it covered then.

Hi Mark
There is no programming required as such. The keys learn from the car so if you use your key to unlock the car and drive it it will learn your settings. In the same way if your wife uses her key to unlock and drive the car the key will learn her settings. It's that simple. Try not to have both keys in the car when trying to teach the keys as this may cause a conflict. Ultimately, it should only teach the key that unlocked the car but as the car is key less to some extent it will always be looking for a valid transponder to disarm its immobiliser. Good luck with the new car lets have some photos. |

Just activate this feature and ANYTIME your wife tries to use her key - nothing will happen. Before you know it she will NEVER want to drive the car. Highly recommended. |

Hi all - sorry to ask this again but I must be doing something wrong. Are you saying that if I unlock the car using 'my' key, set the settings to how I want it, then lock it up again, the same settings for seat / mirrors / steering wheel act will be reinstated next time I open the car with the same key?
Thats my understanding but this doesn't seem to be happening, the only way I can get the settings to how I like them is to use the memory buttons??? Should the seat and mirrors etc go to my settings as soon as I unlock with my key? Thanks a lot in advance (and sorry for being dim) Mark

PS) you need to drive the car with that key settings selected of course. Then switch off lock, change keys (without the other one present) open reset all settings and drive with that key.
