Calling all 6MT F10 M5's
Aloha Fellow M5posters,
After a week of driving the 6MT M5 I have come to the conclusion that a short shifter(SS) would dramatically improve the sport feel to the car. I have spoke to IND about my quandary as no one has engineered a SS for the M5 ... So to bring this product to life we must first find out if there are any other 6MT owners that agree. Its a small market so If there is any interest post up to get this ball rollin!!!! Aloha Alex |

Good idea!
If I was going for 6MT, I would 1000000% be in for this! Short shifter has always been my first mod on every manual car I have ever owned!

I totally agree
I am doing ED now on my 2013 M5 6MT which I picked up in Munich and am heading south. Having driven several Japanese short shifter manual transmission cars, I totally agree that my new M5 would improve with short shifts. I would love such a mod!

Saweet!!
I am really excited to get a SS going as it will really make driving the car a pleasure. I think if we can get maybe 5-10 or more people interested we can move forward with engineering and manufacturing!.. Aloha Alex |

Interesting color combo on your M5. I can definitely tell that you are an American because you've got no side bolster adjustment buttons.
I've got DCT myself, but good luck with the short shifter!

Count me in .. also anyone tried the Clutch Delay Valve replacement yet? http://zeckhausen.com/cdv.htm
Honestly I think this is a modified 1 M Series Coupe 6spd (even the F30 335 I drove)... it feels very similar. What this is probably going to take is some trial and error or a manufacturer that is willing to do this. I think they did it for the E60 M5?

Thanks for the positive feedback, folks!
When Alex approached us to develop a short shifter for the car we were absolutely happy to oblige. At IND we always prefer to work with the best in the industry when developing new products, and in this case the best in the industry is Rogue Engineering. The guys at Rogue have been developing short shifters for years, and have intimate knowledge of what features are critical in a good shifter design. We approached our friends at Rogue with this project and it was decided that IND would spearhead the design specifics and work directly with Rogue to develop a shifter solution for the car. Because this will be a low volume product, cost per unit will be slightly higher than a standard Rogue shifter but will remain well below the $1,000 mark. IND will absorb the initial investment of the design phase including all engineering and OE parts expenses, and we will also commit to a minimum order to get the shifters completed. With that being said, we do need a bit of help from the community to make the project happen- as the 6 speed M5 is fairly rare, we'd like to see a positive commitment from at least four forum members to get moving. Alex is one, so I'd like to see three more people express a definite interest in having a short throw shifter for the car.

I will absolutely be interested. I'm planning on ordering a 2014 6MT as soon as they're available and a short-throw, if available, would be my very first mod.

The plan is for 10 SS for first production after testing a prototype. Lets see if we can get them all accounted for to achieve the best price! Big thanks to IND and Rogue Engineering for listening to our community and leading the aftermarket assault on the F10 M5! Aloha Alex

I am pleased to report that this project is moving along nicely. The prototype shifter is on it's way to Alex for testing and feedback, and we should have finished versions 6-8 weeks after initial design approval, estimating conservatively.
The MSRP for the shift kit will be $795, including a modified shift carrier with Rogue Engineering shift pivot cup, Rogue Engineering shift level, Rogue Engineering selector rod, and upgraded bushings. Any clients who would like to participate in the first production run of the shifters can place a 50% deposit by sending an email to info@ind-distribution.com, sending a PM to myself or any other IND representative, or calling 866-963-4520. We are excited to move forward with this project!
