Wheel color advice
So I've been doing some research and need some input.
My car is space gray and I've blacked out the front grill, side vents, door handle inserts, and exhaust tips. I still have the chrome M5 badge on the back. Is it me or does the car not look right with the shiny wheel face with the blacked out accents? I'm planning to get the LCI performance front grill when it comes out so the front and back badges will be chrome, same color. My concern is the wheel color and the machine finish. It's too shiny and I've looked at the following options: 1. Pay someone to plastidip the wheels gunmetal gray. $220 for all of them. Cons- temporary and may not look that good. 2. Plastidip them myself. $60 for 4. Cons: looks cheap 3. Have a mobile wheel company come out and spray the wheel face gunmetal. $175 each. Cons: May not be that durable when it comes to changing the tires, but I have a good tire shop so it may not be an issue. 4. Powder coat the wheels $150 each plus $200 for mount and balance. I know powder coating is the top choice but these are forged wheels so I'm a little nervous. I don't want to take a hit at trade in for the wheels and I know BMW has black so I was thinking about gunmetal or black. Black is a new concept 4 me and I like gunmetal but don't want to get screwed later on by the stealer at trade. So it seams that I'm leaning towards having them painted gunmetal but do you think my trade in value will suffer? Let me know what you think! |

I went with a gloss black powder coat on my set.

I would go for satin black. Paint, plastidipshit or powder coat is your call.

I think "Gloss Black" and leave the polished surfaces ON.
My Winters look like that. Here.

That's what I wanted to hear! I think I'm going to have the wheel face painted the same color that's on the inside of the wheel spokes, gunmetal.
I found a place that comes to you and will do them for $600 total. Anybody else done this with pics? |
