1st F10 M5 tire bubble

Am I the first one here to get a bubble on the sidewall of the PSS tires?

Ordered a new one, luckily (or unfortunately) I only have 700 miles on the car, so I think I can get away with just buying one tire.

If you didn't hit anything that should probably be covered under tire warranty.

I got a tire bubble on my 19"s while driving home from the showroom!! luckily I had ordered a set of 343M 20"s when I bought the car, as a swap with the dealer. Yours should definitely be covered under warranty though

I'm surprised this happened on a michelin. Its happened to me on a pirelli before but they have extremely week sidewalls. You should check as well that your rim is not bent (happened to me) since the sidewalls are so small.
I have Dunlops on now, and no trouble up to now.

That happened from a hard hit to a pothole or something like that?
Did you bend the rim?

You probably hit something, I had a similar issue when I smacked a pothole. Doesn't take much of an impact to jack the sidewall.

Most likely the driver hit a pothole or similar imperfection in the road.

That's what causes sidewall bubbles. Defiantly get it replaced ASAP, as the tire is compromised from the overlap.

700miles - you can get away with just replacing one tire.

I may have hit a small pothole while doing 25-30 mph.. It was on a local road, I just didn't think at that speed it would cause a problem.
I'll find out from the hunter road balance if it caused a bend. I really hope not.

I guess I am lucky as driving in NYC roads presents the best situation in running into issues with tires/wheels. Anyway, in my last car check up I was told that my M5 needed wheel alignment which was not covered in the free 4-year maintenance. I am glad that I bought the 5-year tire/wheel insurance in case I run into the above-mentioned problem.

Those types of bubbles are caused by hitting a pothole. The tire wall sheers..Check your rim make sure that's not bent also

These tires are not prone to bubbles, now Goodyear 19inch run flats. They were a pile of turd. 4 bubbles in 1 year at 500$ a tire. They knew they had a flaw and BMW backed them up. Only thing I dislike about BMW in 10 years. This was in my 1 year flirtation with non m car 550.

Just got back from Curry's Auto in Alexandria, ran it on Hunter Road Force Balance and the rim is NOT BENT!

Contacted Michelin and they will not cover it under warranty -
(Curry's auto wouldnt even bother picking up the phone to call Michelin, they said they didnt want to even help)
.... I went to BMW of Alexandria across the street and Michelin offered me half off a new one as long as I went through the dealer!

Note to anyone out there who gets into a road hazard with a Michelin tire - talk to their customer service, they are great!

It can happen on either brand of tyres once it was a hit from a pothole or something similar; also it can't be covered by normal warranty, but only by a special one done for tyres.

It always pays to get the tire and wheel road hazard coverage. It covers pot holes, nails etc. No road rash on the wheels though. I had my M5 for two weeks and got a nail. They replaced the tire labor and material at no cost. Home run.

I have an F10 550 with those GoodYears.... What a nightmare. I bought the wheel/tire insurance thankfully. No joke, 9 tires in 32K miles! I bet if I inspect the inside walls of the tires there are bubbles as we speak.

But in the end, didn't cost me a cent beyond the cost of the insurance.

Understand. But is this fair? They are knowingly putting a product that does not do what it should be designed for and BMW is turning a blind eye. I didn't have the tire package because I made a decision that I could have 3 damaged tires over 3 years. To have 3 or 4 in one year is unacceptable. Your note is common of all the people with the tires meaning there's thousands of people out there with this issue.
