Or perhaps he wants to champion another small independent automaker against another industry giant...even at the expense of damaging his own credibility. It is one thing for him to subjectively say he enjoys driving it over an M5, but complete BS to say it acclerates faster (unless he means for the first 20').

I would love to challenge him in his Tesla and race for a pink slip to Agera R.

I thought it was generally accepted that the P85 model S faster than an M5 in a 1/4 mile run at least. The Tesla batteries overheat (and power gets cut considerably) after one run around the track, so this is really just limited to 1/4 mile runs on a drag strip.

That wasn't a 1/4 mile, it was to 100mph and the M5 was a poorly driven manual. This has been gone over ad nauseum. Just check some ET's and trap speeds in the 1/4 mile. The Tesla isn't even close. Hell, drive them back to back...I have, and the M5 is faster, period.

Thanks for the clarification. Admittedly, I just recalled the Automobile mag test - not the specifics.

No problem. I didn't mean to sound rude but I nearly bought a P85 about a year ago and at that time the Tesla forum was so drunk on its own Kool-Ade that the video that you posted had them all convinced that the Tesla was some kind of supercar. I had an E92 M3 at the time and this guy that I ran into in a 60 KW Model S told me his car could kick my ass. He was sure of that because he had seen a Tesla beat an M5 on the Internet. He proudly told me that his car could get to 60 in about 6 seconds. When I told him that my M3 ran low 4's he didn't know what to say. So, you see, I have always been a little sensitive to that video because the Tesla faithful saw it as absolute proof that the Model S (almost any Model S) could smoke an M5. It ain't so!

Absolutely! The guy driving the M5 most likely never saw a stick before in his life based on the HOLE SHOT the Tesla put on him. The Tesla had 1 1/2 car lengths before the M5 got the clutch out!

Loved the sound of the M5, the back end a bit loose, the bit of smoke as the tires broke traction...such a visceral thing this petrol beast. I get a little tired of the comparisons. Drive it, like it, buy it.

I am a little surprised that he likes the tesla better than the M5 especially for someone that builds some best hyper cars in this world. However, it's nothing wrong that the man has his own opinion.

the m5 took off way late, had no traction and towards end of the race the m5 was starting to catch up quickly. such a rigged video to show the tesla is faster than a M5. The creator of this video is the type of person to say a prius is faster than an m5, and when you watch the video the prius got a 10 sec head start. FAKE! But seriously the Tesla is really fast and best looking electric vehicle. but not faster than an M5. but I went to a race legal event and saw tesla's smoking Camaro's SS on 1/8 of a mile drag strip
