New - Traded in RS5 for 14 M5 CP

Hey guys, new here. I recently traded in my 2013 RS5 for a 2014 Alpine White M5 with competition package. I loved the RS5 but it was getting a bit boring for me, lack of tuning ability, issues with it going into the shop (personal belief most of the issues were the tech working on the car, i wont name the dealer but there service used to be wayyy better than it is now).

Anyways, I have been loving this car since i test drove it! So far it is the perfect DD. I have ordered BMC air filters (going to install this weekend, also going to remove the Charcoal Filters) and Apine White painted reflectors to replace the amber ones on the bumper. As you will see from the pics below I hate amber and put E codes on my RS5, made it look much better.

I am going to eventually do a tune, intake and DP's. I am going to look through the forms before making any decisions as most options have been discussed previously at length.

Hope you guys like the Pics and excited to join the BMW community!

Nice!

What kind of issues did you have with the RS5? I always liked that car.

Thanks guys!

It was mostly small things, creaking from the driver side A pillar (never found a solution), replace engine harness, Carbon cleaning at 23k (even though i do let the car warm up before beating on it) and if you have read any forms about the brakes there arealot of RS5/7 owners are having the brakes. Mine were warped from the factory and they tried to make me pay for new ones.

All in all i really enjoyed the car and the hi revving NA V8. I have owned alot of audi's since my E46 M3, it was time for a change.

Dave, I tell you the truth... that car is heavy and slow and AWD. The steering wheel is so soft and the interior is dated. Overall it's like a luxury car wishes to be sporty car .. that'a all
But I think beside R8, it's the most beautiful Audi .. compare to A/S/RS 3/4,6,7,8

Cool. Good to know. I always liked the shape of those steel rotors on the RS5. I guess they warp easy though. And yes I had many friends complain about Carbon build up on Audi engines, I forgot about that.

I actually like interior on the S5 and RS5. I think it looks better than the F80 M3/M4. But I always disliked Audi shift knobs. But yeah I know that even a stock E92 M3 can out track a stock RS5.

I have not driven a F10 M5 without the CP, but i will say steering feel is way beyond the feedback i would get from my RS5.

Can't believe they still have that issue with the carbon build up. I remember when I had my B7 S4 about 8 years ago that was a major issue for the RS4 (and my S4).

Congrats on the beautiful M5 though! Hopefully see you around Ft. Lauderdale in this horrendous traffic

How did you check for comp package? Are there visual cues? Did you run the VIN?
I just picked up one too; exact color combo except my wheels are black 343s. The dealer tried to sell me on the CP (jaguar dealer) but I ran the VIN and negotiated a better deal after I showed him CP wasnt present.

Congrats on your new ride!!

Visual cues - car should sit lower although 10 mm might be touch to tell (especially with no non CP car nearby) and the exhaust tips should be black - signifying comp exhaust (my guess anyways) and then the sway bars if you know where to look.

Ran the Vin and it showed a clean history, no paint work, 1 owner and all the options including competition package. I double checked and it has the exhaust and sits lower than a normal M5.

I moved from a tuned and loaded 2013 S6 to a 2015 M5--the interior is the big difference for me--don't understand why audi doesnt offer full leather... the S6 (tuned) is definitely quicker than the m6, i lost a full second of acceleration 0-60, but I'm sure the M5 would catch up in the 1/4 mile. I'll eventually tune this car, and add exhaust ... I do love the M5 too

Beauty btw, i love white m5s. I went with Space Gray

I actually traded my tuned 14 RS5 in for my 15 M5. I remember driving the RS5 home after my test drive and turned around and placed a deposit on the M5. Couldn't believe how slow and dated the RS5 felt after. I am sure you are having a similar experience.

Anyways, welcome to the community and I am sure you will have no regrets!

After a week owning the M5 I am really starting to love this car more and more. I am happy to have owned the Audi for 3 years, but it was time to move on. I really love the DCT and TT V8 with a lot or toque(what the RS5 lacked) and hp.

I think the RS5 should have been released in the states to compete against the E90 M3, unfortunately we didn't get it until 2013.

I also have to say the fit and finish on the BMW is much better than Audi. Loving the car more and more each day.

Time to start modding!

How is the traction on your M5, any issues putting that immense torque down in lower gears? interested in how it feels after the mash and go of the RS5.

I am looking for an M6 in replacement of my RS5, yet I couldn't get my hands on one for a test drive.

Traction is a bit of an issue, however once you get used to feathering the throttle is isn't bad. It will never come close to the traction the RS5 had, but i think this is more fun. Especially in MDM which allows the car to get a little loose.

I still have not done LC yet, i know this will not launch like the RS5. Once i do it i will let you know.
