The new M5 is TOO BIG. I drove an F10 and it's just like a barge. That's the real problem. Why do they invest so much R&D in making a whale handle well is beyond me. I now realize that Mercedes is clever when they don't really care if their big saloons handle well. They only add power and brakes.

560hp is not extraordinary. It's clear that BMW also had efficiency in mind besides the power.

The new M3, on the other hand...

never!
edit: I think in the last "sport auto magazin" the Panamera turbo s was tested against the S63 AMG, 760i etc. and I think it made 3.8 from 0-100 kph and about 11,8 to 200kph!!!! Thats impressive!
But you canīt be serious comparing the panamera and the 5 series?!

Epic Fail

Boring looks like a Ford Taurus.

Would buy so many other cars first if I was in the market.

I have liked the prior M5's but I think this one will be a flop.

The outgoing M cars you could not find a comparison in engine characteristics aside from a few audi's with high revving engines. They were in a class of their own, love them or hate them, there was nothing like it out there outside of a ferrari/lambo.

It will be a success for bmw, a nice car to have but IMO will not fill the void of a true M car. Would be nice if they offered both this and a high revving screamer.
+1
I hope the M GmbH will surprise us all and the upcoming M3 will still have a NA engine.

BMW I am dissappoint

3 less HP than an X6M--- and only 1 more Tq?

sounds like a whole lotta nothing you get extra from those humungous intercoolers. Maybe the torque curve will be awesome, and maybe there will be a lot left over for aftermarket tuners.... I was at least hoping for a figure like 575hp

So --- WHY on earth would I ever spend 100,000 on an M5 when I can get a 550i with xdrive and M-aero kit and a tune? DCT/6spd? Ceramic brakes? (likely a huge $$$$ option)

M isn't for motorsport
M isn't even for marketing anymore
M is for MEANINGLESS

It's true, they should be reversed. Look at the current E92 M-Sport vs the M3, the current F10 m-sport looks like the M3 front and the M5 looks like the E92 front.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

From the press release:

For comparison, 550i is 4343lbs (manual)
