"improved M-specific Servotronic function as well as an improved M Dynamic mode, prepared to use the full potential of the increased power and traction."

and there was something else said about improved M differential? mainly for traction upon exiting corners. plus, it is 1/30. I can safely assume that all 30 will sell haha.

Okay maybe 15 other cars from 80-140k. What's so unbelievable about that? New/used either way....actually probably more than 15 now that I think about it. Nothing really amazing here or exclusive in my opinion but again whatever floats your boat.

Technically, BMW markets the standard M5 in Europe and US with the same 560hp rating and 575hp with comeptition package. If they follow the same methodology, the 30th Anniv. edition will be marketed with 600hp, 40hp over the standard and 25hp over the CP.

I guess it is all psychological. This would be the first BMW road car with 600hp (the McLaren F1 had a BMW M engine, so this M5 does not sport the most powerful BMW production engine).

I would think about getting this edition if I wasn't pretty sure that my trade-in value would hurt too much.
Yup it did.

Now BMW just needs an equivalent to the F1 or the 650s for it to put its M engines in.

Has made reference that there are 3 types of measurements .

The first the official for the U.S. market : 3.7 seconds.

The official second is for the rest of the world: 3.9 seconds.

And finally the third measurement that will give specialized magazines like Motor Trend to be around : 3.6 seconds.

There will only be 30 cars for North America.

You should go out and buy one.

I agree, this really does nothing for me, especially since you have no flexibility on colors.

However, BMW USA markets the M5 with 560hp here in the US as well. I think BMW knows that the engine is making more than the 560hp in any horsepower measurement (DIN, PS, JIS, SAE..etc) so they feel comfortable leaving the 560 hp rating. Similarly, the CP is rated 575hp in US and Europe but it would convert to 567 SAE from 575PS. As I mentioned before, I believe BMW will stick with the 600 hp rating on the 30th edition as it does with it's other M5 versions.
Thanks for clearing that up.

A lot of people in this thread are saying things like, "15k/20k/25k/30k for just some badges and 25 hp? No thanks!"

Stop it. Just stop please.

I just went to the configurator and tried to build a similarly optioned '14 M5 with the following boxes checked off:

- Individual Frozen Paint
- Individual Extended Leather*
- Individual Piano Black Trim
- Competition Package
- Driver Assistance Plus
- Executive Package
- Carbon Ceramic Brakes
- Bang & Olufsen Sound System

*The 30th Anniversary M5 comes with Full Leather, which is generally approximately $3k more than extended.

Guess what? As optioned above, it comes out to $132,xxx. If you account for the full vs. extended leather discrepancy, you end up with a $135,xxx sticker price as optioned.

I'm not saying I would buy this car, and I'm not even saying that it's worth $138k, but asserting that you're paying 15k+ for just badging is simply false. You're paying about $3k for a 25 hp increase, updated software, badging, and exclusivity.

The announcement noted "starting at $138K", further down there are options not included such as the B&O system, lane change, etc. (Or at least that's how I read it) I believe this car is going to top out more at $145K?

That's cool. I didn't realize they added a door to this special edition, because the regular M5 only has 4 doors. That's got to be worth some money. Think of all the new ways to enter and/or exit the car!

It doesn't look like the Carbon Ceramic Brakes are standard on this special addition, so you'd have to back that out of the price consideration.

Even if this was the same or close to the same price as a non-Anniversary, highly optioned, Individual M5 (say choice of frozen colours etc), I think I would still take the one I just bought (a fully loaded 2014 with CP, CCB, B&O etc). Alternatively, if one had a choice of colours and interiors, then I would consider this even though it happens to have too many badges for my taste (I prefer subtle). The 575 HP on mine is so fantastic, I am good to wait for the G series in 2018-ish for 600 HP+, lighter weight etc.

Happy Birthday M5!

I based my assumption on the fact that the pictures Jason posted feature the recognizable gold painted calibers of the CCB's and on this post from BarlasaM:

If I am incorrect, then obviously the cost of the "badging, etc" goes up to 12k, and is no longer insignificant.

CCB are NOT included on the 30 AV M5 in the UK, it's the CP that is included along with "Adaptive LED's"
