My M5 was vandalized... ***Update 11/24/14: They found the criminal!***

Unfortunately gents, as the title states, no I'm not joking. It's been a rough 24 hours. A couple of nights ago, my M5 was vandalized. It was parked in my parking garage where I live and another car and a motorcycle were vandalized as well. Unfortunately there are no cameras in my garage. Fortunately, they did not attempt to break any of the windows and did not get inside and cause more damage. All of the damage is on the exterior. I'm not going to go into great detail about all of the specifics of the damage, but I will say that it is very extensive. I called the police straight away and fortunately the perpetrators left a large amount of finger prints all over my car. The forensics guy dusted and got all of the handprints and fingerprints off of the car. I'm only going to attach a couple of pictures. Honestly the damage is just too horrific to show everything. My insurance will be covering everything except for my deductible of course. Another good thing is that the vinyl also did it's job and protected the paint of the vehicle.

It's safe to say that my M5 is going to be down for a good while. I've got a long road ahead gents but I'll be back soon.

Oh man, that is so troubling to hear, Dave. Truly sorry to this, I feeeeel your heart hurting, brother.

I hope most of the damage is to your wrap and not to the sheet metal, paint and trims below. Hope not to many dings and scratches.

Is there anything that we can do as a community? Hertz rents M5s, if we all chip in, maybe we can get you in a temporary replacement at least for some time??!!

The wrap should be easily repairable. I'm surprised the insurance covers it. I hope they find those idiots quickly. I'd make them sit right behind those rear cannons of Mika's and do a cold start. Hearing screwed for life.

Thanks bro. I've got my other car, my Fiat Abarth to get me around. I'm just glad that my Abarth was left alone and it has a great exhaust note to get me through living with my M5 for a while. It's just human nature I guess, haters gonna hate. I just never imagined something like this happening to me.

Sorry to hear about this. That's gut wrenching, but at least the didn't steal the car. I had an E34 M5 stolen from a secure underground garage back in '06. That was awful.

Yeah there was a lot damaged beside the wrap. I haven't discussed with the insurance if they are going to help with the vinyl yet though, but I'm going to call my vinyl installers next week, I'm sure they will help me out in good faith though.

This is why I am concerned about parking the M5 on the driveway. My daughter had a big rock thrown at her car and my kids cars have been vandalized in front of the house over the years. Many of my neighbors park cars outside and the adult cars haven't been vandalized so I take some comfort in that but the 991 is going to be in the garage with the Cayenne.

I personally blame Obama for this. He was the first politician to thrive off bashing the rich. What happened to you is what used to happen in Britain when I was growing up. There the labour party riled up people to hate the rich and successful. Sorry Dave, I definitely understand your feeling. It has happened to me several times in past. It's horrible... One of the most important reasons that I prefer to live in OC rather than LA is exactly this one.

WOW sorry that really does suck. It especially sucks for the majority of us who work hard, lead very busy lives but get some piece and enjoyment from certain things; in this case our cars which we also like to mod. For the most part we can replace whats lost or broke but the feeling of being violated like that, the inconvenience of the whole thing including day(s) ruined or occupied in handling it just plain sucks.
