Should I find a new service center?

I recently went in for an oil change and differential change, brought my own parts purchased from fcp euro. Technician states I didnt bring enough oil and differential fluid was for mercedes. I thought our cars take 8.9 quarts of oil or am I wrong?

According to the manual, it looks like an oil and filter change should be 9.5 Liters unless I am missing later bulletin. 9.0 Liters for the oil sump and 0.5 Liters for the filter (though I'm not sure how one would fit that much in the filter).

If you look on most oil change kits from reputable vendors [[ https://www.blauparts.com/bmw-m5-oil...0-v8-5w-40.htm ]], you'll see they sell the filter with 9 Liters of oil. I recently did my own oil change with 9 Liters and the oil measurement was right at the max full line.

For the rear differential, did you really take a Benz branded oil? Even if the weight is right, I guess I'd understand if the dealership refused to put in anything not their own.

Just had my oil changed, and the receipt states 9,5l of motor oil.

On the diff oil, BMW "hide" the spec behind MSP/A, but a search shows it a 75w-140 oil, unless there is a misspelling in the print out (75w-40) they are correct in not using that oil.
If the Mercedes oil is in fact 75W-140, there should be no reason to reject that oil as it meets the same spec.
However, MSP/A being a BMW spec, there may be special additives in the oil that is not in the MB oil.

Looking at the parts catalogue, the MSP/A replaces the old Castrol SAF-XO diff oil BMW used.
I guess this is because BMW and Castrol split few years ago, and I believe BMW is now working with Shell as the supplier of BMW OEM oil.

It takes around 1.5 hours to completely drain, are you doing that?

all my docs say 8.9 quarts, i provided 9 litres which is well over that, just concerned that my tech isnt very well trained and may have not used my provided oil if he thought it wasnt enough. I switched to the 5w 40 liqui moly to help slow the burning of oil..
