In my M5 I'm adding oil every 3.5k miles but I am driving the car far more aggressively than my M3. |

My understanding is that the oil is consumed mostly not in aggressive driving but during coasting. At the time of coasting overrun, there's a vacuum in the combustion chamber which causes oil to be carried past the piston rings. BMW addressed this in the n63tu2 by changing the design of the piston rings.
It will be interesting to see if owners of the 2016 750i report more reasonable oil consumption with the new engine. |

Congratulation on your new ride BTW, I don't think M5 owners are tough crowd. They just gave you their opinions and experiences as you asked for... right?

Yes they did and I appreciate that, but one member was a jerk and for no reason. He stated you guys are a group of "OWNERS" and thought my comments were "laughable", so since he spoke for All of you and nobody corrected him I got the impression that being a condescending A-hole was the norm. I don't have any issues in the 5series forum and I'm sure most of you are great guys but there always will be a couple of jerks. If I do get an m5 I'll make sure it has a warranty and If I have a problem I'll take it to the dealer like I do with my 550.

Besides dumping a quart or two of oil every month, nah. I've got 36K on mine and nothing has gone south but one thing (steering wheel issue). The car has been rock solid. P.S. I beat the crap out of her.

Your post: Maybe this subject has been discussed already, judging from the response this thread is not getting I'll have to assume the M5 is a lesser piece of shit compared to the 550. |

I just upgraded from a 550i to a new M5. It's a FUN change. Soooo much more of everything. I had zero problems with the 550, which I drove for about 25k miles.
The only issue I have -- albeit at 950 miles -- is interminably squeaky brakes at slow stops. I brought it in, but to no avail. At my 1200 mile checkup I'll ask them to replace the pads. I heard that will fix it. But all that aside, the M5 is amazingly fun and powerful. And even though you'll know your way around the cabin, it's a totally different car! :-) |

Snobs Ha. I have an M5, 458, and X1. However I drive a 13 year old Saab 9000 to work. Snob? You can't expect to walk into a room and call a group snobs and their possessions "pieces of shit" and not get a negative reaction. Then do to the negative reaction from your comments you call us the "tough crowd". There's a disconnect. Didn't your mom teach you to think before you speak?

You obviously didn't get why I said that and won't look past your nose to figure it out. Thats ok most neophytes don't. Honestly I could careless about your lame car collection, I would have bought better cars than that. So get off your soap box please and yes some of you are snobs that I guarantee would keep your mouth shut if we were face to face if you didn't like my comments. Lol

To the decent people who responded to my thread I want to say THANK YOU!!!! I appreciate it and I will use the GOOD info I recieved here to make my decision on weather or not to get an M5 when I'm done with the 550. To the SNOBS thanks for NOTHING and I hope you some how get thru life without getting your ass kicked for using your mouth in person like you do in here. Didn't your parents teach you better than that??

I had a 2014 N63TU, never had issues with it.
Except for the fact that they didn't have intake options Now I have a 2015 CP M5 and its a much better car all over the place.

My only issue with my 15 was brake pads.... Front needed replacement because of the unbearable squeaking. Haven't heard brake squeak since I changed them. "So much more of everything" So true. More control of your cars features, sports etc etc for each component. Love it.
