s63tu: Pure Stage 2 Turbos - Installed!
Short update on the project. Jesse and team down at Pure installed the first set of Pure Stage 2's on my car. We did some initial logs and things are looking good. I will leave it to Pure to share more detailed pictures and any specific details on the turbos but here are some of my initial observations:
1. No impact to spool RPM - it is like stock or better! 2. No boost drop whatsoever to redline - I haven't pushed it that hard yet but it's like the Energizer Bunny... keeps going and going 3. It's a bit throatier - now that the turbine wheel is significantly upgraded vs the Stg1 which uses the stock turbine wheel 4. Normal drive-ability is unchanged. I puttered up from Oceanside on Map 2, 4 and a low additive Map 8... all good 5. No traction.... lol 6. The turbo just plain looks amazing - build quality, fit/finish and the size of those wheels!!!! Working on a few other supporting changes and should have dyno results next week. Stay tuned! |

Very cool. What Garrett size are these ? T25 or T3 frame? I've used twin GT2871R's on a different type build and the GT3582R's. Garrett quality is killer.

I really didn't notice it, but let me listen for it and get back to you guys.
Yeah... this should take the s63tu to a different level hopefully! Some initial data monitoring wastegate control vs. boost etc. is very positive |

You might find the limits for the differential internals with this new build. Stickier tires to launch the more powerful two ton beast will be mandatory. Exciting, keep the posts coming!

Can't wait to see the results!
I'm looking into the fueling changes you asked about.

Has Pure Turbos set a price on these yet? I'd guess there's no core charge since they use a different unit than stock? It would be helpful if they'd be able to add some info to this great upgrade. I like the ability to add horsepower without as much boost. With more flow from these larger turbos, can a tuner place the torque curve higher in the RPM range for easier drivability with the added HP? I'd hope this will be a benefit for those of us who'd like to add HP without meth or water injection. I assume the same downpipes will still fit?
