Just picked up a racing simulator!!!

So I know it's not particularly M5 related, but I'm going to be picking up an M5 in the next few months so I figured I'd go ahead and share (I'm excited so I have to share with someone). I just ordered this setup for my new house's basement and I can't wait for it to get here. I figured it would be good practice because I'm also going to be getting me and my soon to be 4 year old boy into karting at Atlanta Motorsports park. I figure it would be cheaper crashing this than my or his karts. Once I move into the new house, I'm picking up another one of these and anyone in the ATL area on here needs to come over and drink n' race!

Here is the pic of my sim... The chassis was built by wood, and the program I use is Rfactor that has been modified.

It's an RSeat Formula chassis. I went with a Thrustmaster T500 RS setup with the F1 wheel upgrade. I'm not sure on which program I will run, but I have heard good things about iracing.

Love this!!! Can someone give me a breakdown of what I would need to purchase to have a ready to use system as I really dont know much about this kind of thing but think it would be a great gift for my son......and me!!!

Are there any off the shelf packages that can be purchased??

iracing is definitely a good program. I also use Rfactor which I like since it is quite costumizable. Iracing has a huge online community.

That's pretty cool. I was at a car show once and they had a racing sim that was suspended in the air so the "driver" could experience rolling in the seat. Didn't try it out though.

Once we started having children I had to box up the game system. My awesome steerin wheel is hooked into a table for them to play with. I almost bought a ps3 for the bd player, resisted.

Man, I would be so in on this, if these sims realistically reproduced driving. I haven't experienced a lot of them, but I have sat in a high end $10-15k sim with motion, FFB, etc and I still couldn't keep the damn car on the track....in a straight line! It really in no way resembled true track driving. Maybe I've just had a couple of bad experiences? Would love to have one at home.
