There is a guy near where I live who has a 325 who has put M3 bumpers on without doing the wings or anything to the back so it actually protrudes from the edges about 2" on either side. He has stuck an M3 badge on the car. looks stupid - he think it looks awesome.

Nice 550i, but I think he somewhat overspent on mods here.

I have a couple of words for you man
GOOD JOB Hey guys take it easy on him Hey doesn't seem to be a poser for M5 besides it was 550i after all and with Dinan and Suspension and Exhaust he could turn it into something very close to M5 and probably as fast to 100 mph or so... It is not bad that he got a 550i then wanted to have fun trying to turn it into M5.. I currently have 550i Dinan stage 2 and LCI M5 and it is true the M5 is a lot better but with more mode like his car it could easily be very close to M5 especially exhaust and Suspension and drive it in Sports mode of ZF it will feel like comfort mode in M5... Let's not forget that some people still can't afford M5 and actually more than that some can afford it and yet they enjoy making their own cars something unique ... Anyways... My 2 cents Congrats man Really really love it Hope you have the right suspension for this 550i the lower and the tighter it is the closer you are to M5 feel.. BTW DCT transmission is indeed a lot faster during shifting.. but in a parking lot I will take ZF over it as between R and D in ZF is no time while takes a long time in DCT and no parking on DCT is so annoying.. but DCT feels like you are really in control but comes at a cost of being harsh...I know how to drive manual and yes DCT is as close to real manual feel of control as Automatically possible - Enough that no autohold feature on DCT and your car might fall backwards on the car behind you -... Do I love M5 more. . Of course..Sorry - Stock to stock not even a comapro.. But pros and cons wise you will find some pros for the 550i but obviously more pros for the M5... but if you are going to travel a lot or bumper to bumper traffic or live in New York or LA I believe 550i will be the deter choice... remember I have both - Last edited by soooma; 01-04-2014 at 07:51 PM.. |

One thing to mod a 550i and add Dinan, body kits, etc, but to advertise to the world that he drives an M5 is silly. I've seen highly modified 550xi and how the owner boasts that it can kill an M5 at the drag strip, but he never tried to pretend that it is an M5.

I still have a 325ci and I put a m3 front bumper on long time ago.
I made sure i dont add m3 fenders or the rear not to be confused. In his case he went extreme to copy all the body panels that distinguish an m5 and he put an M badge in the rear. It should be a no no.

@suckagdog great find. As Boss330 said, don't mind him modding his car, but no need to be a posers. To each his own. It would have fooled me unless i saw in interior. He / She definite put some time and money in to making the changes.
