Another video of the F10 M5 at Laguna Seca. More exhaust!

Another video of the F10 M5 at Laguna Seca. More exhaust!

COMMENTS

The new M5 had recently made its way onto the track at Laguna Seca and BMW was kind enough to shoot some video while there. The bone chilling engine and exhaust note are more than enough to remind us that this car is the real deal and belongs at home on the track just as well as it does on the road.

The F10 M5 is of course BMW's fifth generation of the M5 and newest M car to make it to market. The M5 packs 560HP and 501 ft-lbs of torque, all the information and videos can be seen in the official BIMMERPOST thread for the M5.

It doesnt have that high pitched metallic scream of the E60 but it definitely has a strong presence.

Fast car, but hard to think of as a track animal.

This car is beautiful. Is the exhaust the best noise I've ever heard? No. I do however think that it is a great sounding exhaust and I would love to own one someday.

That car is awesome. I hope the next M3 looks like a 3/4 version of that.

Lol

You drive a 135i with a JB.

I'd say the M5 was not intended for you at all. I targets a totally different crowd.

I'd be more surprised if you like it.

Even the old M5 hit a different crowd than most BMW buyers

What does me driving a 135 have to do with it? Is it not good enough? I also have a E90 335i that my fiancé drives. Also what does "with a JB" mean? The JB stands for Jet Black just incase you thought it meant something else. Lately I've been toying with the idea of possibly trading my car in for a used E90 M3. I could use the extra room. The problem is finding one spec'd the way I want. Now the E90 M3 was done perfectly. It was made the way it should be. Anyway, what does my choice of car have to do with my opinion of the new M5?

Im a huge fan of the E39 M5 and the E60 M5 but the E39 M5 is my favorite though. I just think that the new M5 lacks some aggressiveness. Maybe a little more flair in the rear wheel arches would do it. Maybe when I see it in person at work it will grow on me just like the 745's did.

aesthetically it could use MINOR adjustments but there is too much win overall for this car to care

Well, I agree with him and I'm pretty sure I'm part of the crowd they'd be targeting with the new M5, or at least I had hoped so. Getting too big, too heavy, too low of a rev limit and two turbos on top of all that....I'm on my 3rd M3 now and this will probably be my last, since the aforementioned objections will probably apply well to the F3X M3 too.

And yes, I know, the E9X M3 is no lightweight either and small is not an ideal word to describe it, but we all have limits and I think my current ride is as big and heavy as I am prepared to go when it comes to my fun-to-drive daily ride. Anything more, size and weight-wise, and I might as well drive my wife's X5d or trade my sedan for an X5M.
Exactly! Wanted to write a post myself but I would say exactly the same thing. I dont like the lower rpm in the new generation of M cars and love the sound of NA V8 and V10 that gonna keep my e92 m3!
