Exhaust Advice

Guys I'm looking for some expert advice regarding exhaust mods. I'm picking up a F10 M5 this Fall and want to kick up the exhaust level. I'm leaning towards Eisenmann due to quality and fact I love the look of the 4x102mm tips. My questions revolves around only getting the mufflers vs the full exhaust and if I went the full exhaust route would I get resonated or non-resonated center pipes.

Are the E-race mufflers good enough? I'm 37 so I don't want earth shattering noise. I was leaning towards just the E-race mufflers and then adding the mid pipes if I feel it isn't loud enough. Any benefit from a performance standpoint from a full exhaust standpoint vs mufflers only? I have heard the stock exhaust is well made.

Thanks,
Tony

The E-Race that i heard was close to earth shattering with drone. Stunning from outside the car but i could not have it as my DD. My opinion of course. Curious what others say.

Tony,

It all depends on your comfort level. I have an E-race now (axleback) and I think it is great but will admit it does have some drone at low rpms and the cold start makes me the pariah of the neighborhood. My wife and kids think it is a little loud for them along with the drone, but for me personally I think it is awesome. Gives the Beast that much needed growl. When I'm on the track everyone turns their heads and they love the WOT and sudden spool of the turbos when I jam the brakes. My suggestion is try the rears first before you start adding the mid pipes, DP, etc. Drive it for 1000 miles and then decide if you need something louder. Otherwise enjoy!

Tony,

Have you considered the sport rear section? If you are considering mid-pipes, the sport rear section might be a great option. The race is the more popular system, but it is aggressive. You can always add sound through the mids and down pipe (catted for no check light)

Might depend on if you go with the comp pkg (which I recommend) or non comp pkg.

I ordered the comp pkg for suspension, upgraded rear diff and sportier exhaust which compared with my prior car CLS63 was not all that load but loader than the non comp exhaust.

I was thinking about resonator delete but read on the forum here the comp cars do not really have a conventional resonator. I then added exhaustmeister which keeps valves open to give more sound during cold start and low speed.

This has really worked for me and has really no drone. The car is also leased so I did not want to spend allot of money on the exhaust although clips of the E race and others exhaust do sound great.

What I'm planning on doing is maybe downpipes which are pricey but not only will dramatically improve sound but also provide a significant power improvement; something you may not get from aftermarket exhaust alone.

I got a brand new Borla exhaust for an F10 M5 if anyone is interested. $1500 and local pick up is welcome. You can google it easily and find a youtube video with the blue M5. Sounds awesome but not too loud.

Thanks.
