I have the AMS catted downpipes and my CEL is on 80% of the time. Had my car dynoed at HG Motorsports and it was showing only 520 HP on a dyno jet on its best run. Worst run was around 490. I also have the Akra exhaust and GruppM intake. I'm thinking about going back to stock on the intake and downpipes. Super bummed about the drop in performance. Also, I've had these downpipes installed for around 6000 miles and has the dyno done about a week ago so the computer has had plenty of time to adjust.

What was your dyno stock? What do you suppose is the reason you have lost power if that is the case?

I had a dyno done after having the Akra installed at EAS and it showed 534 hp. (Video here) The guys at HG Motorsports said its probably getting too much air w/ the downpipes, intake and exhaust and the computer hasn't adjusted for it. Said it really should have a proper tune done to it to get the most out of it. Not really sure what to do, I love how it sounds but the massive power drop really sucks.

I haven't gotten a dyno done but I have the Dinan DTronics along with my Noelle pipes and the CAI. I talked to a guy named Noushy who got Stage 1 for his M6 and had gotten the Gruppe M intake prior that. He said the Stage 1 tune smoothed his car out a lot and was what the Gruppe M needed. I think Dinan is looking at a lot more than just boost and that it may make a difference for you. I think it's more of a tune than just a piggyback that adds boost.

I have better quarter times and trap speeds even in the bad heat of summer here in Texas after doing my mods. I think the Dinan has complemented the bolt-ons pretty well.

Did HG turn off the M5 between dyno runs?

My buddy and I both got the AMS catted DP's almost a year ago and both of us got them installed by the local dealer. Neither one of us has had a problem with the CEL's. He puts a lot more miles on his car than I do and he is a regular at our local dragstrip. He is definitely faster than a stock M5 at the strip as he has gone head to head with a least two other M's. My car is definitely making more power and SOTP feel is definitely worth it. Spins tires at will in the first three gears and the sound alone is worth it. Just saying.
