Have you looked at the AWE Touring axle back system? It's pleasing to the eye and gives a good sound at WOT but not loud at all for normal driving.

Youll be happy with the RPI. MCarsFan has downpipes and that increases sound about 40-50%

The RPi video shown by 13 M5F10 is of my car with stock downpipes. Since changing them out the car is more animal.
Are you saying the stock down pipes are restrictive then? I don't know DICK about these cars yet but I want a more pronounced exhaust note with the option to go from Mild-to-Wild with the push of a button. i.e. at BiModal setup if they exist.

Meisterschaft GTC might be the right system for you.
Personally I like it wild.

This is my opinion from personal experience. If you have plans for catless downpipes in the near future, stick with your stock exhaust and invest your $$$ in the catless downpipes and see how you like it. The stock downpipes are restrictive for airflow & sound. Once you replace them with catless downpipes, your increasing airflow and noise. You may love your OEM system then. I've heard that setup before and it sounds really good. If you then decide you want something louder you can go with a different system that fits what you want. You can youtube EVOLVE Downpipes F10 M5 and see the video. Sounds amazing with the OEM system.

If you go the opposite, you run into the risk when you upgrade your downpipes, you may not like how loud your car is or how much drone there may be.

Just my two cents.. I know a few people who have said they wish they started downpipes first.

Note: Changing downpipes will trigger a CEL due to the O2s being deleted. Most are resolved with the JB4 while others like me went with a tune

If you do downpipes, you can pick this up to control your exhaust valve http://www.exhaustmeister.com/

Agree 100%
I would have gone this route too had I known in advance of how I wanted my car to end up.

@**335i** as I can see you are located in switzerland.
For any modification of the stock exhaust you must have a certificate from the manufacturer (Beiblatt/DTC/Eigungserklärung etc.). If not, you have no chance to pass the inspection (MFK).
btw.: the max db for exhaustes in switzerland is 94db. As I can hear in the videos that must be more than 94db I had allready over 100db with a performance exhaust and downpipes on my 335i

You can always change to stock before going to inspection and after change back

P.s in swiss there way louder cars than rpi that drives without any problems, look at aston martin vantage or lambos or ferraris

yes, you are right but your question was if you can pass the tuv WITH the exhaust ;-)

exotic cars like lambo, ferrari and so on spend a lot of money to legalize their noise
but we are talking about retrofitted exhausts...there it's different.

i'm quite sure when you go to the tuv, they will send you back home

please do not missunderstand me. I'm actually also looking for a M5 and if I buy it, RPi will be the first mod that I will install...

but for the tuv we will have to change it back to stock

The car will downshift similarly in both D & S (Paddles) but in this video if you hear from 3:20 you can tell he is staying in gear when typically the car would shift up. Sounds to me he is using the paddle shifters in S mode.

Yes, the car does downshift similarly but not as aggressive as being on the paddles. Most people who get into the M5 and ignore the shifter think its a manual car due to the way it shifts up & down. Very manual like

Thanks!! This is exactly the input i was looking for. I have a Dinan piggy-back (stage 1) on the car now, I wonder if it has the ability to clear the engine code if the did your suggestion?

This is probably the route I'll go since I don't what it to be too loud.

Appreciate it 13M5F10.
