Opinion needed: axel back choices
I've searched the boards and haven't really found any comparisons. Considering an axel back purchase. I don't want to mess with the entire exhaust, just looking for a better, throatier, growl, but do not want it to be obnoxious or annoying. Still need to drive around town, take the kids to school, ...etc.
Thinking about Turner or Corso Sport axel back, but will consider others if suggested. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thx

Your other options for an axel are AWS which iamvietness has and posted a detailed thread about. You have Eiseman and SuperSprint too. Do you have plans to do down pipes in the near future, are you the type that's addicted to mods but not in the market to buy Downpipes yet? I ask because if you answered yes, I suggest to start with Downpipes first. You may be satisfied with the OEM system once those are fitted.

Downpipes make the best sound even fitted to the stock system. Though the draw back is that you'll have to live with a CEL and the smell... I am very happy with Downpipes; though the M5 is not my daily. I also agree Turner is the best bang for the buck. Though having done it (and reversed it back) I can attest the drone was absolutely terrible. Quote:

CEL can be cleared with JB4 or Tune. I went the tune route

Love my AWE system. It definitely gives the tame daily driving but give the growl on startup and WOT. I went the opposite route that 13M5F10 said. Got the exhaust and then going to get DPs

It will wake up your exhaust system. Youtube Evolve Downpipe M5. Sounds great and you'll see power improvement. Turner is awesome too. I always drive in D3 Sport Plus so the drone was very minimal for me. Cold starts will be louder. Just an FYI

I like my AWE as well. It's not overly loud or obnoxious but is deeper and can bark at WOT and high rev's well enough to justify the cost and is louder and much more aggressive than stock. I can't speak for comparison of others on the M5 but am happy with the upgrade on a '13.

Another vote for Turner. I have their muffler delete system and the drone is tolerable. When I go with downpipes I will probably upgrade to mufflers to keep from blowing out my ear drums. For now though I love the muffler delete sound--especially downshifting under a bridge!
