M 2-day Performance School
Anticipating the arrival of my broken-in M5 from ED, I decided to attend the 2-day M School. I wanted to have it beginning of December when I expect my M5 will be up for redelivery at the PC, however, all slots are full for the December 6 schedule and only after the New Year are slots available. When a spot opened up for next week, I decided to take it. Anyway, I tried to get first hand information from anybody who has attended the school lately, unfortunately, doing a search for 'M school' in this forum only turned up about the "Lime Rock M5 Experience". So if there is anyone who has attended the 2-day M school lately, could you give me some information what to expect -- the concise info on the bmwusa website indicates Cornering, Drifting, Figure 8, and Timed Laps with (first day) developing elementary skill refinement and then (second day) assert advanced techniques. I would appreciate if you could tell me whether or not your goals were met attending the course. Thanks.

i posted this back in september
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=745354 m5 time was limited to wet skid pad, high speed cornering (~80mph), full laps at the PCD track. pretty fun... i got the race comparo vids to work too but they're way too big and vimeo limits space. awaiting LCI refresh... |

You may want to go to the Porsche school to train on manuals.

Inasmuch as I would like to try a DCT M5, I do hope that they have manual M5s available to try out too as my coming M5 is a manual. Anyway, I will post some info after I have gone through the 2-day course to let you guys know.

I just did the school last month, only the 1M is manual. On day 2 when you are allowed to do the full track sessions in the afternoon you will have the m3 and m5 available to you but no manual 1M. Once you are there, you will not care, because it will be a blast regardless. If you are a BMWCCA member make sure to get your discount. You will have fun, make sure you are well rested for day 2 also......now I need to find another event to top this one

They have a few 6MT M5s. Seen at Limerock. You may be able to request one but they generally use DCT.
They also mentioned the 1M will soon be replaced by M6s. I don't know if they'll move the M3 to the autocross, etc.
