Stop ogling my beauty Jan!

You must have taken the spot that the 650i with the flat tire had earlier this morning.

Hope you had a great time. I know the wife and I did!

Hi John,

I actually stopped by at LoginOut just to fill out the paperwork as I knew I'd
be late for the drop off the same day (still had visit the BMW dealer) .

Yes we had a great week and I managed to drop off the car with 1999km on
the odometer

It was great meeting you and if you're in the Boston area feel free to reach out .

- Jan

I should have done the same. I have an 8:30 drop off appointment, and there's no one to be found.

Monday was so busy that I could not get an appointment for drop off. So she said that she had a 7:30 for early drop off already, so I showed up and coattailed onto that appointment (and happily paid the 50 euro for the early drop). Takes about 30 min.

it was wild. someone showed up around 9:20, and we did the paperwork. I had a mad dash for my 10:20 flight, but made it. There was another guy there dropping off paperwork for his M3. He had picked it up Friday, and drove to Italy where he got a flat Friday night. Sat there all weekend, and took a train back to Munich. I guess that BMW wasn't able to work out and replacement tire for him in Italy over the weekend. Bummer story, his car is still sitting in a salvage yard.

2013 M5 ED dropoff

At the place where you drop off your M5, do you have to leave with them your (electronic) key, one or both? Also I noticed that in the trunk is a set of mounting plates for the U.S. size plates, do those stay in the trunk or should those be taken off the vehicle, the same with the first-aid kit and triangle as the instructions say not not leave anything that is not attached to the vehicle when the car is to be shipped to the U.S.?

You leave them 1 key and take the other with you.

I took everything that was not attached, except for the floor mats. The delivery woman at The Welt suggested I take the first aid kit, warning triangle, tow eye, screw driver, and flat tire kit.

Interesting... the delivery person at the Welt told me to take the triangle and first aid kit, but when I explicitly asked about the eye hook and the tire pump I was told to leave those in the car.

To NY: you leave 1 key and keep the other... the lady at the drop off place has a very good sense of humor... she said it is so that in a few months when you have forgotten that you had a car, you will find the key and say... hmmm. what was this for again?

I wouldn't worry. In hindsight I probably went overboard, but I had the room in my bag so I figured why not. As long as you took the triangle and first aid kit you should be fine. The other things the dealer will replace if missing when the car gets to the US as they are safety items.

Funny so many of us that had delivery on the same day also dropped off on the same. I also dropped mine off this morning but in Frankfurt. I put almost exactly 1200 miles on it.

By the way the lady that processed my drop off said it should make the truck leaving tomorrow. I'm not sure if this is also true for the Munich location.

Most of you have answered about the other items except for the U.S. license mounting plates. I am not sure whether or not to take them with me or leave them in the trunk, any thoughts?

Officially you should leave the license plate mounting brackets in the car , I always
take the front one out to avoid someone at the VPC or at dealer installing it prior to re-delivery (I never have a front license plate and most folks at the dealer are aware of it but I rather be "safe" than have holes in my bumper )

I also now left twice some detailing accessories on the trunk as I was too "lazy" to carry them back (and didn't care if they made it or not, it's more of a 'test") and they always showed up at the dealer . Guess it all depends how lucky you are with items left in the car .
