Finally got to removing this bad boy, took me roughly 20 minutes to remove both. First impression on a quick drive, my butt dyno tells me 10 to 15hp. The difference is definitely noticeable enough on the low end to mid range. One thing I noticed is that on the 2014 CP it comes with the snorkel instead of the plate. I'm curious if it's worth replacing the snorkel with the plate. I guess something to think about after my break in...

This darn car is just so good at eliminating cabin noise that you don't really hear any difference. If you turn down any music and pay close attention you can hear the turbo spool a little bit more, otherwise I would say very little difference in sound.

The only reason it peg me to even ask is because the hole is located at the bottom of the airbox and it's pulling heath from the engine. I thought that would have some negative effect.
I also had a chance to drive the car a bit more today and I would say realistic gains are more 10 to 15... |

I'm not really sure why some do have the plate and some the snorkel. I did read somewhere that it is best to install the plate to eliminate any heat coming from the engine and also it creates positive pressure inside the airbox which is better for the turbo...

I totally forgot all about this, a long time ago I removed mine (03.13 build). It had the snorkel. I was able to purchase the plates from BMW and had them installed.
I am surprised the intakes even have a snorkel as they suck in hot air. Defiantly get the plates to eliminate the hot air entering the intake boxes.

This is my thoughts exactly, the hot air being injected in the airbox posses some negative effect. When you had the plates installed did you notice any difference? and do you happen to have the part number?
