With the non-resonated X-pipe, the exhaust sound actually compliments the active sound BMW decided to pipe through the speakers. I can hear the Eisenmann x-pipe in concert with active sound. I have to admit it sounds pretty good. I no longer cringe at the idea that the exhaust note is really just The Matrix creating reality for me. My goal was to improve the sound (inside and out) and the look (black series tips) and I have to say I have achieved both. If I wanted more sound volume outside I'd "upgrade" my E-sport rear section to E-race.

All this is to say that if you want to improve the sound inside the car, whatever exhaust you choose, choose one that offers sound improvements from the center section. IMHO, that contributes a lot to the sound quality you hear inside.
which size tips and what color tips did you go with?

This car does not need aftermarket exhaust, stock exhaust is the perfect match for the F10 M5, right exhaust sound note and loudness. You can make it louder but that's about it, it will not sound any better and for sure not comparable with the S85V10 and S65V8 glorious sounds...those are music to the ears. The F10's S63 TTV8 sound is a very nice and adicting roar but that's it...

I agree and disagree. The stock exhaust does sound good, but what's the point when you can't hear it. It's silent when you drive normally. That was my main issue and led me to buying an aftermarket. I have the rpi gts now and it has done wonders to the experience of driving this car.

Man how wrong you are on this one. I totally disagree with you on this one bud. Your stating that any aftermarket exhaust on this car just makes it louder and has no tone change or hp/tq increase. Theres a first for everything and I'm willing to bet that for those of us who purchased an aftermarket exhaust will disagree also.

Amen brother. Tell him again so he can hear you loud and clear and rev your motor so he can hear the difference in sound quality.
