Thinking about purchasing an F10 M5

Hello all. I may eventually purchase an M5 next year. I have driven a few. I know some say to stay away from the 2013 models, is it because of the first year and of the F10? I am assuming that the price will drop on the 2014s when the new models come out next year.

Do your homework. Great time to buy.

Prices are marked up, but are definitely not where they should be. They should me much lower.

Thanks for the advice. I live near DC and I noticed the prices here on the 2014s are still a lot higher than I'd want to pay. I hopes its not asking too much but I'd like to see 10k knocked of the lower mileage models.

2014s
High $50s-Low $60s in northeast for under 30k miles
Under 15k miles $63-$69k.
In another few months they will come down another $5k as more will come off lease.
I saw a very high end luxury dealer of Maclaren Bentley and Aston take one in 60 days ago with about 12k miles on it and listed at $73k now at $63k. Probably get down to 61k. Anyone selling ANY 2013 for more than $55k is friggin nuts. Any over $52k would need to be under 25k miles. Any over 38k miles need to be priced under $50. They are all pretty much out of warranty or coming on expiration in a few months. I still see like 50 on Northeast that have been listed since September. I see private dealers listing high $50-low $60 smh.

I saw the one on the Maclaren dealership on Autotrader. Looks to be a nice car. I can wait a few more months though and catch one when more come off lease. BTW, thanks for the price breakdown.

Hi all,
My first post over in the f10 side of things, currently have a FBO 335i and looking to finally take the plunge and get a proper M!

What would you say are the main things to look out for? And also common potential issues that may arise with the f10 m5.

Thanks in advance.

Speaking of the comments from Lawton438. Does the F10 have any SMG problems? I still have an E46 M3 that was an SMG, but I did the swap to a manual transmission when the hydraulic pump went up. I hope the bugs have been ironed out of the SMG transmission.

No, we have a DCT. It is pretty strong up to 650-700 whp then the clutches start to slip.

Ok just to give you a sense of market
2013 M5 pretty loaded no BO not full leather.
46k miles
Dec 7 listed at $60k, listed today south of $54k
CPO

When I spoke to them and offered 53k a few weeks ago the GM told me good luck no thanks and I was crazy.

Wait it out on the 14s the deck is collapsing fast

That's too bad for the manager because you were only asking for 1k less than the 54k. I will wait on the 14s.

That's good to hear! That was my only issue with the SMG was the reliability of the pump.

Woke up and logged onto cargurus, 8 price drops on M5s in Mid Atlantic and Northeast. Several from bmw or luxury franchise dealers, just not third party mom and pop. Don't catch the dagger in free fall yet.

How's the reliability on the 2014 and newer models? I had a 2011 F10 535 and it was an electrical nightmare from the beginning.

I'm looking at a 2014 M5 w/ comp package for my wife later today. Is there anything I should be on the look out for?
