Yup, it started after the first month or two. It is only one side that makes noise on mine. The side closer to the center console. I haven't brought the car in yet.

I have the opposite problem.. every time I turn the car off, there is a sound like air brakes releasing on a truck that occurs whenever I turn the car off and maybe a second or two after I open the drivers door. I'm not sure if that's the same sound you're referring to or not.

I describe it that way because for the longest time I just assumed a truck was nearby when I parked the car. It was only recently when I realized it was my car that was making the noise.

Mine does that too! Good way to describe the sound. I've gotten used to it I guess but am more stumped by what could be causing it.

Assuming I understanding what you are hearing:

I have the same sound after turning off the car, and I have no side bolsters in my 2013. It is the system for the soft close doors and it is expected.

No.. It's def coming from the seats. You can feel the bolsters expanding when this noise occurs

I have something similar on the left side as the bolsters tighten it makes this absolutely terrible ear scratching sound. Much worse than whats on the video.

I'm afraid this indicates a brand new seat. There is no way to open them up and fix them because of the way these M5 seats are. Changing seat in this car is also not easy, both doors have to be removed

It looks like there are more bugs with this car than there were with Windows XP

Why does my car not have adjustable side bolsters??? It's a 2013. Was it an option? I was always wondering. Mean while I had a 2011 535 with m sport and that car had them. Weird.

They took out the seat and replaced the motors. It took 2 days but it was driving me nuts it had to be done. Strongly recommend losing your car for a couple days to fix it

Nice... When they told me it "might" take 2 days I made sure to tell my service guy no need for a test drive because I've had an issue with getting my car back with unnecessary extra milage on my car
