My car broke.
I just purchased the car 700 miles ago and ~20 days. Fortunately I purchased a warranty that has immediate coverage and it will be towed to service on Monday.
I have driven the car a little rough but nothing major. I pulled up to a stop sign and my car just shut off. Prior to this it was running completely fine and I had driven all day. The car would start for 10 seconds and then die and the whole time it had a super rough idle. I was able to get it started long enough to get it to my house 1/10 mile away. I started it this morning and just straight gasoline smell with white smoke billowing out of the exhaust big time. After I turned the car off the white smoke was still coming out of the exhaust for a while. It is also showing drivetrain malfunction constantly and running like garbage. I know my car is getting looked at Monday but I'm just curious as to what this could be? It's a 2013 DCT with 41k miles.

I had a lot of white smoke from my exhaust, drive train malfunctions, misfires on either side banks....and car suddenly died while driving slowly through my neighborhood; luckily couple blocks from my house.
Turned out it was my in-tank low pressure fuel pump failing. Had it replaced along with EKPS unit and everything is right again. |

My SA said it definitely sounds like a fuel problem and is probably an injector or the fuel pump. I will hear more tomorrow morning.

Had the same exact thing happen to me during a run at an 1/2 mile event. turned out it was an injector and got the whole bank replaced along with the cat on that side from being drenched in fuel.

I knew it would be injectors. Maybe your car was sitting for a while as well ?
In any case glad you got it taken care of under bmw warranty. Do u have a aftermarket one too? |

Yes, I have an aftermarket warranty as well. They would've covered the repair had I not called BMW USA to ask about the injectors and see if my vin was apart of the extended injector warranty. My SA had no idea.
