My options, in order:
executive (for HUD above all else) CP LED lighting (with coding -- one of the best everyday-use benefits) Full leather drivers assistance B&O. I ordered everything above, except for B&O. Next time I will get the B&O -- the HK is too mundane; its the same as in my three series. Would not get CCBs, night vision, rear entertainment.

AFAIK, @V12 is the only one to have successfully coded this feature through. Contact him and he will make your car the way BMW intended it without US DoT intervention and nannies.

go test drive a car with and without the cp
you will not really notice a difference it does sit lower, so if you have a steep driveway, you will scrape the front that is the biggest pain for me, always worried about slowing down and angling to avoid the front |

I test drove a car with and without competition package. I won't go into a lot of detail (feel free to PM me for more details) but to summarize my thoughts : the steering is day and night different between CP and non-CP. If a person cannot tell the difference, then I question whether you should be buying an M5 for the right reasons (don't mean any disrespect). I also spoke to the shop foreman briefly on this, he said that the steering assembly is entirely different between the base car and the competition package and even the service manuals are different for repairs. So it's not a simple reprogramming of the hydraulic.
It's also a stiffer ride, in comfort, it's barely noticeable, I'd even say they are equal, but in sport+, you can tell the difference. Lastly, the exhaust is a lot louder. The start-up and idle are both very noticeable, but what's more noticeable is you get this constant loud vibe from the exhaust even driving around the highway at 60mph on the 7th gear. It feels much more like a corvette than a 528. It may or may not be everyone's thing, if you want a more discreet ride, this will certainly be a problem. |
