400 cpi is pretty standard for cats, although I don't know what BMW uses. If you need a cat for sensor readings most performance cats used are a less dense 200 or 300 cpi. Are yours ceramic or metal matrix? Did your tuner tell you what cpi the stock BMW cat was?

I'm told stock has 2 cats. Primary is a 600 cell which is electronically monitored. Secondary is a 400 which is not monitored.

Interesting, thanks. Do you know if the 400 cell is also in the downpipe?

I am always shocked by these threads. I have difficulty keeping my car on the road with the power it has.

Thanks for the info. That just raises more questions in my mind, but I'll give Performance Imports a call for details.

These threads always read like a phishing email to me... Someone with 0 posts comes on with horrible grammar and writes short messages that are semi-incomprehensible, but manages to claim something no one else has been able to prudently achieve...

They are both in the downpipe. The stock 400 is removed. The stock 600 is replaced with a 300 (I believe) which works without throwing a CEL.

Love where this is going. Clearly, someone on this forum will not sleep properly until this one is verified or ends up missing in Chinatown or seriously hurt in the back of a tuner shop. Either way, I am following this to see if some TV special comes from it eventually.

Performing Imports is a Dinan dealer last I checked. Maybe it is their tune that is currently in Beta. They are a top seller for Dinan.

LOL! I hear you stealth. But this is legit. I've checked into it myself and spoken with Ron and Performing Imports. It's just a matter of spending $5 grand for the tune or not. I've covered it more extensively in another thread when I first heard about it from ColdList, but I can't find the thread now.
