Timeline on order???
Does anybody know how long it takes after you've ordered an M5 for BMW to start building your order?

Key is the production number, the dealer will get a scheduled production week once they have the production number assigned.
Assuming the dealer took your order for an existing and scheduled production slot they can tell you the production week

I did get a production number from my dealer but on BMWNA site shows that my order is in the system and on its way to production. I also called (1-800) 831-1117 and says order has been accepted but no production date has been set.

I ordered my '14 August 5th and it went into production September 3rd.... I was told 8-10 weeks for the whole process by my dealer... I pick mine up this Thursday (9 wks total)....

I ordered my '14 August 29th.....into production September 3rd.... picked up October 7th. Less than 6 weeks. The dealer said they had a special allocation. Once it was listed as sold it went into production almost immediately.

6-8 weeks once the car starts production is the typical time frame
