38. I owe the government school loans totaling more than the value of this car but what fun is it to be paying the government back and driving a civic for the next 10 years?

This was a interesting thread. There's people of all ages sharing in this post, and some younger guys too. It seems that most of you worked hard and busted your ass for it and earned something special from the fruits of your labor, and that goes for the older gentlemen too. It's really nice to see and admire that quality. In my line of work I see my share of hardworking people, and then I also see parasites that just take from the Gov't and feel that they are owed something...and I'm sure if they saw what I drive they would hate me for it. Congratulations to all of you.

I can't imagine how fortunate one must be to be getting into such a wonderful car as this at such a young age.

However, I feel lucky, buying my first car, a Honda Prelude, right after my post graduate education, then slowly advancing up the m5 now.

Hopefully you guys know realize how fortunate you are.

Now feeling really old at 43!

+1. Still have my honda prelude. Going on 13 years, that thing won't die.

Here in the UK, a specced up M5 would cost you guys in the USA $125,752.00

I wonder just how many young guys would own one over there then

A well spec'd M5 cost over $100k in the US. I assure you that the 20 - 30 year olds on this board are not the typical M5 buyer in the states.

Let me try the again. The 20 - 30 year old M5 owners on this board are not the typical age of US M5 owners.

btw, in the US, about 19% of ALL BMW buyers (from 1 series to 7 series) are between 18 and 34 years old. The average BMW buyer is 50 years old. I'm slightly better than average . . .

OK here in the UK all BMW drivers are classed as "Fast road hogs" , every BMW you see here is driven Fast.
So not that many "Old sods" like me in them.

We have a couple of our BMW's in Scottsdale/Paradise Valley Arizona which has an obviously older demographic.. Seems that the majority of drivers are in BMW's then MB's. Not too many M's though.
When I was in my 20's I drove Toyotas and Nissans. Really crappy cars. Couldn't really afford the kind of car I wanted until I was 50. Then I went crazy on BMW's. Assuming you young guys can afford your wheels, you are very lucky. i hope you haven't peaked too early.

41, but just turned 42.

I'm impressed that there are so many younger guys on this board that can afford an M5. No matter the age, enjoy life to the fullest and remember life is too short to be unhappy...

Not that I care about the statements that the question is dumb or not, I would like to share my thought over what happened with this simple thread. Over 1900 views in couple of days and over 90 replys. I find this thread amusing.

Eventually I was goind to collect the data and make a graph like ones, area country and colour, on the Owners registry thread.
But, since when the question "how old are you?" has become a dumb question?
I guess members who answered the question just become dubmers

or would have it been little different if I was to tell you guys I am asking for the data collection in the fist place?
Ah come on members.....

Some people are just dicks. I see so much other stuff on this forum that's frivolous. I thought this was an interesting social experiment, I guess my young mind was curious. Maybe when I'm older I'll just be grumpier and won't waste my time on questions like this.

I'm sure BMWNA has the exact demographic data you are looking for.

I believe the current BMW model with the lowest average age of buyer is the E9x M3. I was surprised given the price point. But I guess the M brand does attract younger buyers.

I seriously doubt there are many 20somethings buying F10 528s.

Perhaps BMW will share the data with us?

I liked the thread as well. Don't know why it upset so many. Maybe it's something I'll understand as I grow older and gain more wisdom.
