Downpipe Install

Does anybody have a DIY for this that works? All links I found aren't working. Also, I read about some gaskets that are needed, what gaskets are all needed? I see turbo to downpipe connection is just a clamp. Any info would be great!

They're held on with rubber grommets like the engine cover; just pull them away from the metal brace running over the engine, then you can access the 4 bolts that hold down the same brace.

Oh ok, so don't have to unplug the plugs from ECU? Just pop it away from the metal brace using a plastic pry tool maybe?

Also how important is costing the Downpipes? I see many running them uncoated but some say it's a must because of the heat to the back cylinders. I don't do any road racing or anything like that, so wondering if it's needed.

The walls are thinner on aftermarket pipes...youre better off with coating or header wrap. Some of the heat difference is offset by not having the friction of cats, so there's that small benefit. The main reason to do DP's is sound!

Can DP's (catted or no cat) installed without a ECU tune?
Would stock software deal with the more free flowing DP?
It should boost power without a tune right?

Yes, stock ECU will adjust after about a tank of gas..from my understanding at first it may feel sluggish but as it learns/adapts it will pick up a good bit of power/torque on the midrange. Obviously an ECU Tune/Flash will give the biggest benefit paired with Catless Downpipes. Mine will be going on this weekend! Get them back from ceramic coating tomorrow.

Just finished the downpipe install yesterday.

Long story short, the downpipes I bought and had ceramic coated didn't end up fitting right so I am returning them.

I kept seeing threads pop up about gutting the OEM downpipes, so I did the same. Super simple to do, used a 1" Spade Drill Bit that was 16" long and drilled a couple holes through the catalysts. Then used a giant flat head screwdriver and a hammer to chuck away at the material. Very simple to do!

Before:

After:

So far I've started up the car, and it sounds absolutely AMAZING!! The cracks after revving it up are brutal, neighbors will definitely not be happy after this mod

Will take some vids once I go for a drive (tire caught a nail pulling out of driveway for test drive).

Looks like your Cat had crack anyway so you have wasted nothing by doing this.

Amazon ones made by Haze Performance. However I hear very many have fitment problems. OEM de-catted is a great way to go!

Thanks, I'm gonna risk it w the BBMRs (sent for coating rn), but if that doesn't work out I'll de-cat the OEMs too.

Thanks for the post. You're car is now definitely louder with the decatted dp's than with the cats and exhaust, but is it obnoxiously loud? I'm tempted to do this, but don't want a drony obnoxious sounding car. I now have a Supersprint Race Exhaust, which sounds good, but I was hoping for slightly a little more bassiness of a V8 rumble.

Cruising around its very quiet from inside the car, and coasting at 50 it's silent. I was actually thinking it'd be much louder just cruising around. The revs sound awesome, and WOT is loud, but cruising around with windows up you can't even tell it's got an exhaust on it.
