Bike rack
I am about to buy another Mtn bike as I sold mine when I move to charleston where there are no trails but now back in and trails galore.
Anyway when was biking before I had a RRSSC with a hitch rack but that's not an option now. Does anyone have any experience with roof or trunk mount bike racks on the F10 M5? I searched l the forums but pretty much nothing thing came up. |

Just the other day I bought a brand new road bike. I was able to fit the entire thing in my trunk with the back seats folded down without even having to take off the front wheel. I wish I woulda taken a picture. I used to mountain bike too and I also own a fitness/trail bike which is bigger than my road bike and that one fit in the trunk of the M5 fine too. The M6 and M6 Gran Coupe don't have Split Fold Down Rear Seats. That's an advantage of an M5 man. Just take the crap out of your trunk and try it. I guarantee you that if you take off the front wheel of the bike it will fit at least. I also used to transport my bikes in the back of my Fiat 500 Abarth. With some wiggling it would fit in there snug and allow me to close the rear hatch all the way. Don't waste money on a bike rack if you don't have to. Lol!

Lol thanks man I will give that a shot I've gotta get it home from the shop anyway. Just not sure about putting it in the trunk after rides when it's very dirty but guess I could get a trunk mat Did you remove the front wheel to get it in the trunk?
I had a OEM BMW / Thule Aero roof rack that I custom made on my e90 which worked great but it was very expensive and pain to install and remove |

Yeah just put down a blanket in the trunk and wipe off as much of the mud or dirt that is stuck in the tires. On my mountain bike I would remove the front wheel and put the bike in without putting down the split fold down rear seats. It was able to fit in.

Cool thanks! I didn't realize it would fit ! I also dont think I could do a roof rack with the clearance in my parking garage it would be close so trunk rack would probably be the only option and I have never liked those so putting it in the trunk would probably be my best bet

Hi
I am huge fan of the m5, best ever surf / bike car! Normal Thule's fit really well, just remember to put a cone in side your garage everytime you sue the rack! Cheers stu

Both my road and tri bike have integrated seatpost and 59/62cm frames. The road bike barely fits and only after removing both wheels. Not a chance for the tri bike. I worked that puzzle on every angle and spoke many fancy words testing that statement. My goto MTB has a fixed chain line so removing the rear wheel every time I drive to the trail head is out of the question.

Any chance u guys are local to Nj? I have a rack off my c63, and when I check fitment it might work for the m5, I need to confirm with Rack Attack. I used it once and would let it go cheap since I'm moving and use the Jeep for bikes now.

Hi Guys
Go 100% Thule, http://www.thule.co.nz/thule-proride-591 Proride 591 is mint for mtb and roadies A buddy has the OEM rack on his 3 series and all kinda fits, but I would suggest a single system. If you buy it all at once - get a single key! (I didn't do this) Remember the road cone in the garage! Put it where you stand your bike racks (and yes this is a result of a very painful experience!) Cheers stu

Yeah I don't ride a bike. I'm the kind to mow down cyclists in a Hummer. If I had a hummer.
