disappointed he rules out AWD in M3...I don't plan to buy one without AWD but would consider it if they made it an option like BMW does on the 335. Hopefully they have a change of heart and offer AWD in the M3 also

The US is the biggest market for M cars and if they see people prefer AWD E63 and RS7, they will come up with an AWD M5. Like I said before in another thread, companies are like politicians, never trust what they say. |

I really feel treated like a moron by those guys, and I don't like it at all... when they are in the business to make money, why offend your customers consistently and push them away from you with your dishonest expressions of so called values and mantras??? BMW marketing == pure rubbish. |

Remember when the M division said they would never make an M suv? Then 2 years later the X5M & X6M comes out. Expect to see an M3 & M4 with AWD in the near future. Quote:

It is OBVIOUS how this will progress. Optional AWD for the next gen M5 and then AWD only for the gen after that.
Never say never, remember when BMW said not turbos? No FWD? No SUV, then no SUV ///M. The list goes on.

And the real leaders of the pack.. The Japanese, Nissan gtr! What's this you say turbo ? But you said you'd never go turbo yet here we are, what's this you say awd? Yyyyyup
BMW is not leading the pack any more in terms of pushing the edge in their cars. IMHO |

Choice of RWD vs AWD is not a bad thing. Then people will choose and BMW will react. If sales of next gen M5 are split then they will keep both options alive. If sales are mostly AWD then RWD may go away.

I get why forum enthusiasts are upset from this.
I also get why they say never AWD on M4 even though they may still do it, otherwise people would wait for the AWD model. I really don't dislike the idea of being able to put my power down. Seriously even with "only" 300hp I always have traction issues when tires are cold and conditions are not 100% perfect. Even on PSS.. And don't even mention winters... As long as it's optional, I'm sure they'll make a great handling AWD car. And I'd certainly buy an AWD M4. |

Finally they opened the eyes to reality. With those torque and HP numbers, AWD option for the north must make sense.Purists can buy the RWD but do not disregard the advantage of AWD in the snowy north.
But more importantly don't make another porky pig the next time around with your M vehicles. |
