$3500 for stage 1 and $3750 for stage 2 (requires additional 6k to purchase intake and exhaust from Dinan)
Harsh price tags...
But man- the piggyback under the hood and no need to worry about going into dealership is priceless...

That's full tune bread if there ever was one. I wonder how many will pony up for that. R&d is expensive as hell these days.

Looks like I'm seeing connections to the TMAP sensors, the MAF sensors and maybe the OBD2 Port. Seems that they have some slight degree of control over the air/fuel mixture. That would be a good thing. It is expensive, but it is understandable due to R&D costs, and they probably went through all the stuff to not get themselves in trouble with CARB, which can be expensive.

The only way we'll know if this product is any good is to race a Dinan Tuned F10 M5 against a Switzer or BMS tuned F10 M5.

The value isn't great when you think about it.

On the 550i the Dinan tune added 101hp and 130 lb feet torque and removed limiter for $3499.

On the M5 they are adding 50hp and 105lb feet for the same price and not taking out limiter.

101hp on a base of 400 is very compelling. 50 on a base of 560 less so.

It will boil down to how much it improves driveability in my opinion as to whether this is worth buying.

Looking forward to the reviews of stage 1.

Well said. I am interested in seeing how they executed the usable power vs tire spin.

I'm sure like any companies "tune" it is tested on their own products.
There are a lot of forum members that mix match intakes and exhaust with another companies tune with no complaints.
Is it recommended ? Sure it makes sense cause its their product.
But would it cause a drivability issue ? I highly doubt that

I agree with you on the HP to $$$ figures.
Same with Benz and Porsches. A legit tune costs over $3,000
But maybe it is because of the sophistication of these late model BMW's which have always been more electronically advanced.
These current engine control module's communicate more then what everything may think. Anything that is on CAN and MOST are sending and receiving communication signals. A control module/setup like this I think is the best peace of mind for best performance with not consequential issues.
And that has to be why it has taken this long for anyone to release a proper tune. Cause if it was that easy then everyone would be releasing a tune.

I'll post up pictures once I receive my kit and give an honest review.
I currently have the Burger Tune with full catless exhaust and AFE intakes. I'm ready to see what improvements can be made.

Also, on the Dinan main page it says that there is a full 3 day money back guarantee. Cant complain about that. So I'm gonna take them up on that and see.

Looks like they dropped the price of the exhaust by $500 and I just paid $3499 "on sale". Hmmm, makes me want to go back to the dealer and ask for $500 off the Stage 2 with the intakes, see if they will make up for the exhaust overpayment. Some places say if you get a better price in 30 days they will refund the difference. Seems like I am in the 30 day window here.

Well because they thought they were going to be the ones to crack it only to find out no... So I'm guessing they built the R&D that a full fledge crack was worth into a piggyback, and honestly even if they got better timing and corrections compared to the BMS stage 1 standard settings its not worth that price...

Press file correcting the curve and bms for like 2k is better than this.

Not just that, but when comparing to Porsche and MB those are cracked fully functioning ECUs in conjunction with the tune there is true value to that... They are a glorified piggyback from reading the description [and still not as functional as the original JB4 was for the 335i]

Maybe if you keep the car 10+ years and passed any kind of warranty, but when you can take the BMS off in 30 minutes [anyone else see 2+ hrs of labor ] keep the warranty in-tact and run the same if not more boost safely their really isn't much of a reason too unless you're just don't care about cost [I did that with my 335i and dinan]

I beat the hell out of BMS stage 1 for almost 20k miles and its fine.

Will you PM me the offer? I have asked my dealer to look into getting the Cold Air intake with the Stage2 and he told me that the Stage 2 won't be shipping for at least two weeks. I also wanted to see if I could get back the $500 extra I paid for the "on sale" exhaust last month for $3499.

Wow Dinan is installing on-road tunes within California that are not yet CARB approved? Crazy! They could get some serious fines for that.

Anyway looking forward to info on their new tune. I think they priced themselves out of the market and expect it to perform similar to the other tunes out but time will tell.

Dinan's website states this :

Designed to be Emissions Legal

The D-TRONICS Performance Tuner was designed and built to be the only tuning box on the market that is emissions legal in all 50 states. At the moment this product is emissions legal in most states – the product is in compliance with US Federal EPA Memorandum 1A, or this product has not been found, nor is believed to be, unlawful for use under the provisions of the Clean Air Act. Currently this product is not legal for sale or use in California, and states that have adopted California emissions standards, on any pollution controlled motor vehicles. We are however in the E.O. process with the ARB and are confident that the D-TRONICS Performance Tuner will be emissions legal in all states in the near future.

Ah, so they don't offer it in California, New York, and the other states that have adopted CARB standards. That makes more sense. Your post made it sound like you ordered it and an install was impending. It often takes a year or more to get things through the approval process.

Does anyone know if the Dinan tune will take away the catless DP CEL?
