OK, here are my findings. Well, first it produced more questions ;-) It appears that LC is only available if certain parameters are met. I.e., oil temparature and pressure, coolant, miles driven since start, miles driven since last LC or high rev etcetc. Because as many here already stated: Sometimes LC works and sometimes it doesn't work.
Anyway, did the up/down adjustment test. And as many of probably already know, tehre are limits to the adjustment. I was not able to tune down my RPMs below what appeard to be 2300-2400 rpm for launch setting. Also, this manual adjustment has to be done every single time, there is no memory effect. I guess the reason must be that the pre-programmed 3000 rpm pretty much work out best. Why? LC doesn't actually simulate a manual transmission launch. So the spinning wheels that I was talking about before actually didn't occure from the start up but between shift gear 1-2 and 2-3. I simply didn't pay proper attention and my brain registered spinning wheels and attributed it to from the start off. But it is absoluteky not lile you fed a manual transmission car to 3000 rpm and just let the clutch slip to 100%. At 500+ lb-ft this would mean that you don't move for a while while your spinning wheels start producing considerable smoke. Ultimately, I felt (I could only rely on my subjective feeling as I lacked and measuring devices) I got better results by manually launching the car. Stepping on the break, revving it up and immediately releasing the break with manual shifting just north of 7000 rpm in each gear. If relying on LC, in the end about 3300 rpm did best (again, subjectively speaking, will defintely get one of those Turner vent-gauges. |

Here is a short clip of a test that I wanted to run on the open road. You can see the tachometer go up to 3000 and then down as I adjust it on the stearig wheel. First one to answer correctly why I aborted my launch control test get's the hat that I am wearing in the mail (not mine of course but a new one ;-).

At 38 sec mark, you car jerks forward?
Almost thought you got rear-ended...

Yes, I admit, I aborted the LC a bit abruptly. The reason that I am asking for is visible in the video if you watch really carefully ;-)

Interesting thought. I actually tried that and found that there seems to be no limit as to how long you can stay in LC start mode with the shift being held forward and the rpms up. I tried for as long as 30 seconds and the stopped.
