After much lurking & learning, my 2014 M5 is on order!

First off thanks to all that have posted here... It's been instrumental in helping guide my ordering process.

For the past two weeks, my CA has been chasing down a build allocation -- they ended up trading a M3 and a new X5 build to get mine.

My build:

Exterior - Silverstone. I never thought this would be my color.. i was firm it would be a white, possibly a frozen color. After seeing all the frozen colors in person, and the white, I was still undecided. By chance, I walked past a silverstone, and it literally stopped me. This color is fantastic in the sun and in person, and no website photo does it justice. It is different from the e60 silverstone, and in a good way, I think.

Interior - Black Full Merino and Aluminum Trace I wanted a dark color, and thought about Nutmeg, but didnt want to pay the extra money for the full coverage I prefer to have - black may be boring, but I spill way too much coffee to go with a light interior. I went with aluminum trace, since I have piano black on black in my wife's 3-series. I think the aluminum trace goes best with all the other brushed chrome interior accents and the SS exterior.

Packages - Competition, Executive, Driver's Assitance, LED Lighting. I even chose to take the new wheels everyone else seems to loathe. I think they will look great with the SS color. We will see how great the exhaust is, but the bushings, steering, and improved ECU seem to be worth the price increase on a new car. I have no aspirations of tuning, adding aftermarket exhaust, etc so perfect for me. I ultimately decided against B&O based on my listening preferences, and the numerous complaints and issues people have had with the speakers.

My total price for ED is going to be $101K - about $11k below US MSRP, $6k below ED MSRP. This obviously puts me more than a few thousand above ED invoice, but given that I wanted a specific pickup date in September, and BMW is not releasing allocations directly this year, I am happy to pay that premium.

I have picked 3 mondays in Sept for my pickup date options, and am awaiting confirmation. I am looking to do about a 9 day trip in conjunction with ED. I will probably post my rough itinerary in the future to solicit feedback from you all.

Couldn't agree more about Silverstone, it's quickly become my favorite M5 color...in fact I loved it so much, I swapped my Imperial Blue for Silverstone!!

Congrats on Euro Delivery - I did it on my E92 M3 and I will always treasure the memories of the experience!

The E60 and F10 Silverstone II paint colors are identical. I have both (what's left of my E60, that is) and they are the same. They also share the same BMW part #. Funny how a color can look different on a different body shell though.

Thanks. I've seen both in person, and I guess my mind just plays tricks on me... I liked the color on the E60, and LOVE it on the F10. Think everyone can make there own judgement here (and there's a couple others like this)

How many days after order confirmation, did you learn your date was secure? How did you then get the delivery time set up?

3 days.... I didn't pick the time, it was assigned.

I've been told by the CA my pickup date is confirmed, but haven't heard any other information or pickup time. Did this info get mailed to you or did the dealer notify you?

It's all gonna work out. Don't stress, plan your nine days. Search around for Dave's journal, plus many others. Great time to be over there.

I spend a lot of time trying to come up with a way to get back sooner. Event went by the Welt a few weeks ago while I was in town. Turns out that it's pretty lame when you leave in a taxi....
