Porshe 997 turbo Vs F10 M5 Preview
I raced my buddies 997 turbo Vert and did multiple runs. Here is a preview of the first run. Cameras were in both cars and audi a8 behind us recording. Two people in each car.
Runs were from 50 and up, the last run was up to 166MPH were I hit the limiter. Here is a sneak peek, a better video will be made. First run was the worst as I pulled very hard on him, others were extremely close. Last edited by Tylerstar; 03-11-2013 at 04:22 AM.. |

Interesting. I would have thought the turbo would pull slightly harder.

I think the video might turn out better if you film during daylight.

Having owned stock and chipped/Tubi 997 TT's I sincerely doubt a stock M5 is going to pull one of the ridiculously quick TT P cars - slightly isn't in the vocabulary.

Agreed, 911 turbos are fast, very fast. Bottom line is, these cars are neck and neck. Every other run I beat him by less then a car or a car length. Keep in mind, this is the cab so its 100 pounds heavier then the coupe. My car is completely stock though, I haven't had a chance to do the charcoal filters.

A 997.1 TT is NOT unbeatable. I took those on with my modded E60 M5. I see no reason why a stock F10 cannot pull on it!

If you gentlemen broke into an airstrip late at night and did this under controlled circumstances, please - feel free to call me an idiot. If you did this on public roads in the middle of the night, read on -
Am I the only one who finds it curious there are threads about death, threads about maturity behind the wheel of a 500+ HP car, then have threads about street racing? I'm just as curious as you all how one car fares against another - but there's a huge difference between taking it out on a track/airstrip vs public roads. Dont get me wrong, I had my time when I engaged in that dumb shit - and thank God I didnt hurt anyone or myself. But I think everyone fundamentally agrees its reckless behavior. "Know your limits?" come on... Have fun, enjoy the car, bend the law here and there - but Im sorry, its BS that moderators watch idly by as these sorts of threads get posted, considering what I said is fundamentally true. Call me a bitch, call me a grandpa - again, alls fair until u F someone up with this (which happens) - then who's the bitch? Oh, and if that really was owls having sex - my apologies again. |

I still have tuned 997.1 (EVOMS 700EVT kit). Stock for stock, especially with manual transmission, it is possible that M5 would be competitive from a dig if 997 not launched properly. But best chance for M5 would be a run from ~80MPH to ~150MPH (three shifts).
But, if 997 is modded, the M5 has absolutely no chance. Sorry. |

The M5 should actually pull harder on the 997, especially since its a convertible. Here is a vid from Dubai where an e60 M5 pulls on a 997 Turbo Coupe Convertible. Both cars with 2 people and the run was from 50km/h to 250 km/h
