Do you think the US M5's have the side bolster hardware installed?

Like the rear foglights have been installed in all BMWs and you just needed to order the Euro switch to activate them?

I drove a friend's X6M today and found out that missing the side bolsters is a HUGE problem (for me anyway)

I've been looking through realoem.com on the European versions and the USA versions and it looks like the seat hardware is the same - but I haven't found the part number for the side bolster switch yet.

Although I have to warn that I'm not an engineering major so I may have missed the difference in looking at the two seats online.

Great question - I'd bet it does. I'm sure someone will eventually figure out the part number with retrofit instructions.

I am willing to let my car be the guinea pig on this if IND wants to give it a shot after doing some research.

i don't understand this whole infatuation with side bolsters? I had it in my E60 M5 and E60 535i and hated them.

Totally 100% agree with you. Never used them, in fact i thought they were very annoying.

I understand that not everyone will care, but this thread is for any who care to discuss a potential option to fix/retrofit.

Funny side note: my E60 M5's active side bolsters broke 2 times.. both from track days at Laguna Seca.. my dealer advised me to turn them off at the track..

What is the side bolster 'hardware'? My UK 2012 M5 can pull the side bolsters in more but it doesn't do it like the old E60 did when you go through the bends.

Personally don't care for "active" side bolsters - just really want a side bolster adjustment feature for increased side support to nestle my smaller frame body.

Had these in my e60 and my have them in my X5 but missing from my M5.

This thread is not about active bolsters. The F10 doesn't have active bolsters in any market.

The thread is about adjustable bolsters. It seems reasonable that if you want to be able adjust away height, or cushion length, you may also want to adjust seat width.

This is what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about the 'active' side bolsters. I just want the ability to tighten up the seat.

I do agree, would be nice to have them in my car. I am getting use to the lack of them in the car but always nice to feel the seat hug you!
