Nov12-Feb13 production dates. Bug fixes only. If you are not having issues with bluetooth, etc i wouldn't touch it.

Thanks. Bluetooth seems to be working fine with the current software. No need to update then.

Do you have to redo coding after the software update?

Usually the Bluetooth update doesn't affect the coding.

I wonder if this fixes the issue I have been having with dragon drive messaging not working with the iPhone.

Even though the site lets me download the software for my VIN, it won't load on my AUG 2012 production M5 - gives "no valid software found" when I try to do the upgrade.

I had the same problem. Since I was heading in for break in and my service advisor is really awesome I spoke with him first and turns out the car needed an update before it would accept the USB update. The combination seems to have rectified the problem I was having connecting my iPhone to the car via USB as well so I'm really glad I mentioned it.

I think I just experienced the same issue tonight. My Bluetooth audio connection was fine until I plug the the phone with an USB cable. Now it says the device can't be detected and I lost the Bluetooth connectivity. I have only had the car for a few days with not very much time spent with it. Tomorrow I will reset both phone and Bluetooth connection to see if that will figure something out. Other than that, I guess I will have to drop by the dealer and have them check it.

Does anyone know if this update corrects the issue with the iphone bluetooth radio connection. I'm referring to when the iPhone is switched from car bluetooth back to the iphone itself, the radio does not come back on, as it does in all my other BMW's.

My wife makes a number of business calls on her iphone when were out driving around and takes it off bluetooth speakerphone, but I'm still driving without any backround music. I know others have reported the same issue. Still looking for a fix.

Im having the same problem. The BMW site shows an update with my VIN, i downloaded it to a USB stick, tried it on the car, and it tells me no valid software found. I cant seem to get the teleservice to work either with my iPhone connected to the Snap-In. Trying with a USB cable, the connection connects and disconnects multiple times.

Do you know what update they had to perform to get it to work? Then I can have some info to tell my service advisor. Thanks for the help!

From a vin Decode, it shows my production date to be: 2012-07-19, yet the BMW site does list this update for my car?

I don't know what the version was but my car was a late oct early nov build and already needed a full update. Once that was done and installed the web update (they did it for me since I showed them it wasn't working) it fixed a number of things - USB iPhone connectivity, text messages are consistently working now, phone seems to return to music which was spotty before so I'm a happy guy. My service advisor is Chris at BMW of Mt Laurel and my technician is Dave, suppose you could have your service advisor call them if you wanted.

My car was in the shop for a few days and I mentioned this issue to the service department. They agreed to check and the result is that there wasn't anything that's showing error after they scan the car. The SA said they won't get paid by BMW for updating software for customer unless the computer reads errors. I am going to be out of the town for the whole week so there wasn't enough time for me to duplicate how the Bluetooth audio connection gets dropped. Guess I'll have to deal with that after the trip.

Latest update(03/11)

I had spent a little time to figure out the software update. It was very easy and took less than 10 mins. (Software update download was made on my MacBook Air then transfer to a flash drive). Now, the Bluetooth audio connectivity problem I used to have with my iPhone 5 is fixed. Everything works like it should be now.

Just curious, what make date is your M5? Mine is 2nd week of September, 2012 and I was the one who started this thread to get info on whether to update or not. However did not do the update per "don't fix it if it ain't broke" concept. I was not having any problems with iPhone 5 connectivity, in fact received call coming out of the speaker are just perfect and the other party comments how clear I am coming through to them.

Mine's a earlier production. The sticker shows 03/12. The car was registered in 07/12. The day after I took ownership(02/13), the Bluetooth audio lost its connectivity after I plug it into the USB port. Also during a phone call, the voice from the other side sometimes wasn't very stable. After the update, Bluetooth issue has been fixed and conversation on the phone has also been crystal clear. ( even tried a few calls with LINE/SKYPE, worked brilliantly)

Bump.
I did notice that the software says: This update is valid for vehicles with production date from November 2012 to February 2013.

I am in same boat as you late August production (8/26) and the downloadable update doesnt work. When I asked the service department if they would look into seeing if a software update is available for the car they told me BMW hasnt come out with one.

I said you mean there isnt one for the M5. She said no, all BMW's use the same software version. Impetiously, she said, you dont think they make a different software version for each car do you...

Anyway, was wondering if there is a way to trick the website to get a software update for my production since it looks like the one that comes up when I enter my VIN is invalid based on production dates.

Any help?
